Thanks to the generous support from sponsors and friends Geoff may actually raise enough money to get there. The total cost of the trip will be around $3500.00. He's worked and trained hard to get selected by USAC for his second trip to the Worlds. Last year he broke his collarbone and tore his rotator cuff a few days before the Worlds. He was sent home from Italy the day they started. He rehabbed all winter following his surgery. This year the Worlds are in Australia. He's trying hard to raise money. Here's some items that he put up on Ebay to help get him there.

http://shop.ebay.com/viciousdher/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=

Sorry about the spam but We got to get him there.

Any questions about the goods please ask.

Thanks
George

Is there any way for us to make a straight donation? Paypal? As New Yorkers, we love watching Geoff racing on an international level, and I know our NYCMTB guys would love to chip in to help make it happen...

Thanks !!

Geoff is kind of against accepting personal donations, but one from the club or corporations would be GREAT !!!

USAC extended the timetable for Geoff until Monday to raise the balance. All money will be returned or pledges not accepted if he doesn't go.

It is however still possible for him to get there.

Game on !!!

Why is he against a RM fundraiser or something like that? I'll bet he could raise $100 or more easily.
Honestly he's embarrassed about not being able to do it on his own. A week ago he was resigned to not going. Then he sent a monthly email update to sponsors and industry friends and it took on a life of its own.

He's considering a $500.00 offer if he gets a company logo tattoo:eek:

Ask him if he would rather stay home, or accept a few bucks from a bunch of fellow US DHers that are itching to see some real gravity talent representing the US...

It may sound like charity to Geoff now, but I think most on the giving end would think of it as a cheap and easy opportunity to see some great US representation that has been sorely lacking lately. He certainly not the only person that has needed some help to do this.

Not going does not benefit anyone.

The only thing he should be embarassed about is that the governing body of the mighty USA can't even fork up the dough to send our best juniors to the World Championships. The future of the sport and the biggest race of the year, and the top talent has to resort to asking for handouts.
I for one appreciate his attitude about not asking for personal donations,
but at the same time, I really hope he gets to go.
Good luck.

The guy in the thread right below this (currently) says he "has $3,500 to spend"

problem solved!

j/k

Be sneaky, have a shop take up a collection from supporters and then sponsor the trip! ?

Ok , I'm going to state this a bit harshly; if he takes $500 for slapping a permanent billboard on his body over personal donations, he is an idiot! Take the money and be proud that you are doing something that people admire. People will give money becasue it makes them feel good, it makes them proud to say "I was part of this kid achieving his goal", and I am going to assume that he is not a scum bag with a criminal record and has worked his ass off to desreve the opportunity. People DON'T expect results. Take the money because there are many of us that would if we had the skills to be able to represent our country on that stage...you will dissapoint the wanna-bes if you don't.

Next to the Olympics, a World Championship is a big deal. There are no Olympics for this sport so understand this is the equivilant. If it were the Olympics would you feel the same about accepting funds to get there? Go local, explain your situation and let others be part of your accomplishment.

VDH - My personal offer still stands. It's not much but it's on the table if he wants it. Every little bit counts.

Set up a paypal account and sell the tires to all the people who want to donate for whatever price they want. The people who want to give money get to give money, Geoff feels like he's not asking for donations, and you get rid of crappy tires. Everybody wins.

RUFUSDESIGN is already donating money but more can be sent if you guys want to help out.

My paypal address is rufusphotography@mac.com

If you want to donate to geoffs fund then send a paypal payment to the above paypal address. Include all of your info and your user name.

If Geoff is unable to go then your donation will be refunded.

I have a set of signed monster green boxxer decals signed by Sam Hill at last years MSA race as well as one set of red/silver boxxer decals signed by Steve Peat at MSA as well. They are legit.

If Geoff doesn't want to accept personal donations then I will front it as an auction for the decals!!!

The donation will be sent under RUFUSDESIGN with all of the names under that helped out the cause. It is getting to the point where I am going past his pride and helping him achieve his goal.

Have Geoff teach a skills camp. I bet he could get several people to pony up $150-300 each for a two day camp at a local resort.

By the way, Geoff, props! :thumb:
He could but he needs to pay the USAC fee on Monday and he would potentially leave this coming Friday.
