Saw a squirrel arc a couple power lines on the way into work this morning. The explosion and all the sparks were very pretty and crazy bright. Amazingly, blood was flowing out of the squirrel. I guess I thought that it would get all cooked and crispy on the inside. I bet the little bastard is still smoldering.

Ha, its crazy when that happens but I guess its pretty common, last year the same thing happened in my back yard, only he didn't arc the lines. Little guy fell off a tree and landed straight on the transformer that serves 4 houses in my back yard. Sounded like a gunshot, the power instantly went out so I ran outside to see wtf happened (so did the neighbors I think they thought I was up to some sort of shenanigans, they hate me). After a bit of searching I saw his carcass on the top of the transformer, I called the power company the dude showed up and just kicked it off the top, said it happens at least once a week.

we had that happen at my old company. little basterd jumped on the line and fried the transformer. well other stuff ended up happening to the transformer that supplied the store and the electric comp. had to use a portable generator. thing was on a 48ft flatbed trailer. we had that thing for almost a week and they had to have someone there at all times while this thing was running. they found the squirrel on the ground, crispy krittered.
