I was passing through Washington a few weeks ago and passed Snoqualmie. I remembered that there used to be some bigger national-level races there. After going to their website, it appears that they don't even have lift access for bikes anymore.

So. . . I was wondering why Snoqualmie no longer deals with bikes? Was it a good place for racing?

No $hit! Just like Big Bear, huh!

Amazes me when I see Doug Henry who just keeps going regardless of his tragedies and doesn't hold any grudges against anyone but himself. Has anyone seen him on his new moto w/roll cage?

hmmm snoqualmie....... that was soooo long ago lol. it was really really rocky. like really really rocky until you got out from under the lift and got into the trees and what not. the only thing i enjoyed about snoqualmie was the lift access.
Stevens Pass FTW

They seemed to have opened the lift access for bikes with a self fulfilling plan of failure. They put as little resources as possible into it. Had the low man on the totem pole in charge of operations, didn't check for lift tickets, no trail signage, etc. . Then after a couple of years said see I told you so we can't make money at this.
It was great for the core dhers but a nightmare for joe public. We were free to build as we saw fit which resulted in some really killer trails but not so great for the uninitiated. There was no easy way down and as stated above the terrain was extremely rocky and I mean sharp square edged rock that pounded both bike and body into submission.

Oh the good ol days!

That wasn't exactly true. I asked for permission for every trail we built.
They may not have done as much research into what we were asking them about as they should have. But there wasn't anything built by the people that volunteered/I recruited that they didn't know about beforehand.

So it was sad to see on their website them listing "renegade trails" as one of the reasons they closed. There was reportedly some underground stuff happening but I never rode it.
At least not on the Silver Fir/Central side.
Now on the Hyak side...

But I agree wholly with everything else. Especially with the no trails for John C. Public thing. The area just wasn't conducive to that?
