Course Descriptions

No Brainer: This single blue, three-foot wide and one-and-a-half-mile trail runs from the top of the park to the bottom with a 12 percent average grade. Expect smooth, rolling, curvy cruisers. It’s family fun for everyone.

T-Bone: This double blue, singletrack trail cuts off from the No Brainer Trail and reconnects after one-third of a mile. T-Bone is a good introduction to singletrack turns while weaving through the trees.

Squirrel Catcher: This trail may be a quickie, only 150 feet long, but with a reason. The Squirrel Catcher is a test track feature. Bottom line, if you’re not sure you want to go down this single black trail, and you’re friends say it’s okay, don’t do it. Instead, ride back to No Brainer and stay there until your heart’s content (and you’ve gained the skills needed to progress)

Pan-Coaster: This brand new single black trail runs a half-mile long and features numerous, meticulously crafted berms that flow in and out of the tress adjacent to the World Cup Trail. There are plenty of opportunities for air on Pan-Coaster.

World Cup: What’s a Mountain Village Bike Park if it doesn’t incorporate a little of the old with a little of the new? As part of the original World Cup downhill race course, this double black, rocky singletrack stretches a quarter-mile long and incorporates log jumps, steep drops, and berms … a potpourri of a downhill rider’s dream.

So, how does the format work? I see there are 5 courses, & I assume the 12 hour race / result is based on how many runs you get in. So, are they alternating courses throughout the day, or is it pick & choose, or are certain courses for certain classes?

I'm interested because a few years ago Team Big Bear held one of these at Snow Summit (remember that place?) & it was a super fun race, but was held on one course, so It made the playing field even.

I believe you will be able to pick and choose your run, that is what they did last year at the Angel Fire Burner. There will be a faster course than the others, but it is usually harder on you and your bike. Had a blast last year running solo, gonna do a duo team this year!

Thanks for the info. This race sounds like it will be a blast, hope I can make it out!

Site is LIVE and rocking (finally, sheesh!)

Check out the goods at http://www.falltiltintelluride.com/

Buell has the 4-1-1 on the multiple courses DIALED: you get to pick and choose which one you wanna run. The faster tracks are rougher and more abusive on your bike and self, longer trails for recovery but still keeping your lap counts up there.

Cool, thanks for the link. will try to hang a few around the bike shops and usual places...

So, I have to have a NORBA or USAC license to race?
Sweet action, thanks for doing that! I believe YES the race is USAC, if you ride Cat 2 or 3 one-day licenses are usually available. I've sent all your questions to the race director, and hopefully they'll get the site updated.

Map of the trails...

.

About a 3.5 foot drop to flat, then you exit the trees to a little kicker, and continue on...

and one of the turns on PanCoaster. (self portrait)

Drove over to Telluride yesterday to check it all out. Gondolas were killer, and free. Always free. Its an official mode of transport in that area. crazy. Trails are cool. Pancoaster and world cup are my favs.

This place has crazy potential - I hope that the turnout for the race is good, and that this becomes a draw for sw CO and beyond. So much closer than Angelfire or Paja...

Oh - and great job (and thanks) to everyone involved!
