Transition Bikes has just signed up for the first date on Nov.14 !
Transitions own Mike Metzger will be bringing out there 4x National Championship winning Bank & Double bikes along with venerable ToP.
Mike will also be bringing some swag for a raffle for those that race that night.

If you wanted to try on of these bikes out this would be a great chance.

Big thanks to Transition Bikes For kicking off what should be great Winter 4x series.

Good work getting Transition to be a part of this Jason, I'm stoked they're supporting racing more and more and this a perfect example of grassroots racing.

You can count on the Dirt Corps to be out there racing too! This is a great way to stay sharp during the winter and keep in touch with our extended family of racer buddies.

I'm excited to finally give my Transition Bank a chance to stretch its legs too.

Go to the 4x section it will have the rules and the dates.
The demos that are in stone will be up by the end of the week.

Our goal is to try and make each race more of a "Event" then just another race you pay you 15 bucks and ride. That is why only 6 races and USAcycling Qualfier vs running MTB class with the Bmxers 3 times a week.
That is why the demos and mass swag we are going for.
Working hard to have most of the lose ends tied up by next week.
Come on down you will have a good time.

Just wondering is there some way for people to just go and practice on the track? I am a newbie at 4x but would really like to try it but would like to first practice in the gate and on a track before just going out and racing. Not to mention I have no idea what kind of bike setup I want for this.

We are in Port Orchard on the weekends, Seattle during the week.

There are going to wed night practice every week but at this time you have to be a ABA member to practice.
Allen just could not get around it with the insurance from what I understand.
There will be plenty of practice on race days .
If you are at all worried about the gate and the balance issue what I tell people is just get some plywood and set it up on some crates in front of your garage door and work on getting cliped in and working on your stance before you get to the track.

Jason,

if I have an ABA membership, can I come to wednesday practice or is that off limits to the big bikes?

i'm not sure how many will be down there, but I am trying to put together a good contingent of racers.

If you have a aba membership you can practice on wed. no problem with the big bikes.

We will be using the UCI random gate cadance.

if you still got that old RM Flow 3, it would probably be quite good enough...
Tho, its frame geometry WILL be a bit off for 4x handling, IMHO.... kinda slack head angle + that tallish AM1 fork (130mm but adjustable down); maybe you already changed out the fork? Anyway, GO FOR IT. hey I might get me a cheap lil' HT something & join y'all other 26ers out there - sounds fun. this jus might be The FIX, this winter, for this OG bmx'er Wannabe. :thumb:

later, kids...

I'm an old-timer BMXer who's new to the 4X thing. I haven't raced a bicycle in over 20 years. But this event looks too good to pass up. I'm in!!!!

Also regarding ABA membership / practice. if you race the entire series you will be paying $35 for daily insuracne/membership for $10 more you can get a full membership (good for 1 year) and can come out for practice on wednesday night. Wednesday night practice is $5.

Forgot to add that if you buy a full membership the first day you get to race for free and i will even toss in a free practice night. You save $10. what a deal. eh!

in regards to the 4x racing. is the 4x series 26" wheels only? just trying to decide what bike to ride.

Maybe you guys can give me some advice. I've got 3 options of set-ups. i have a Santa Cruz Jackal with 24"s or i can put some 26ers on it. I've also got a Blur 4x with 26ers. not sure what will be the best set up for that track. i'd like to do the hardtail thing but i'm thinking the geometry on the Jackal isn't all that great for 4x.

The 14 & under class can run 24 wheels the rest have to be 26.
I would have to look at the Jackal geo but I would think it would be great for 4x.
I have only run my hardtail not my short travel bike at the indoor track, but i would think if you have short travel bike and run the air up in the rear shock (250+) and try it with the propedel on it should be pretty good. I will try both to see what works better for me.

I was out on Sunday with my 4x bike. I couldnt make Saturday 17 year anniversary getaway on Friday & Saturday.
Track is real smooth and fast, first straight and first corner are plenty wide for 4 big guys on the big bikes going at it.

If you want to go practice on Wed nights there is practice every wed. night.

Should be fun!
Lots of swag showing up for give aways to.

So bring any bike, full suspension or not, bring it out and have a good time... am I correct?

And can you run a front brake or not?
