The foamies on the Shure are my fave. Super comfy, and block out almost all noise just like a set of earplugs.

Never used any of the others in your list.

I just snagged a set of JVC air cushion ear buds. The sound is impressive. We'll see how they do riding.

I use the cheap ass Skullcandy Ink'd because they don't move when I put my full face on. Sound is ok and they block out the crap. I paid like $12 for the last pair and get about 3 months out of them before I lose one of the rubber pieces.

Love my Shure SC110s or whatever the 100 model is. They sound great, come with a nice case, and come with adjustable/interchangeable "foams" so you can choose silicon or foam, S/M/L. They are also built superbly and I have no fear of them getting destroyed. I've been using them daily since two X-mas's ago, and the cord is just starting to fall apart at the junction to the player. That's my only complaint- I wish the jack were 90* instead of straight....I fold it immediately over the player and that's why it failed.

Otherwise these things have been perfect.

I guess the only time I listen to music with headphones is on the moto and I can barely hear it anyway. Sound quality is relative at 90mph+.

I am a fan of the nicer Skullcandy buds... designed for actions sports usage.
Bought a pair of "smokin' buds" on that logic. They sound alright. I had them two days before I ripped the wiring loose from the jack, while riding. I've has similar mishaps with other earbuds without the catastrophic results.

They do work well except the cords suck. Mine lasted about a month. They were cheap and when folks noticed me wearing them they knew I couldn't hear them and would walk away. With The Bose ones I have now. Folks know I can hear them so they talk to me regardless if I can hear them or not. My next purchase will be a set of Sennheiser CX 300's as they sound awesome, are inexpensive, and seem durable. The Toshiba rep gave me a set of Phillips Model# SHE9550/27 HP ear buds. They list for like $30 and sounded pretty good for the $$. I like the little case that they came with... I keep them as backups...

What earbuds work the best for joggers and slow mountain bikers to hear me yelling at them to get the hell out of the middle of the trail?
When my loud hub or my fake throat clearing does not work, I know I have an ipod user on my hands.;)
It really is annoying but quite amusing to try to get around a jogger who is plugged in. No matter how easy you pull up beside them, 1 out of 3 will shart.

BTW, I bought two sets of Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket Bud 11mm Headphones from brociety.com. Half price, and it is the first earbud I can hear under my motorcycle helmet.

whoa...the shure's cords are 3mil thick, and 2mil for each individual earbud. Not what I would call cheap at all. in fact, it gets to be a PITA because the cord gets so stiff in the winter time. The good part is that it has a junction at the Y so I can replace it with a shorter cord (which I plan to do) which is 90 degrees and 2ft long.

On that note, one of the reasons I returned the bose units I was given for the shures was because people complained about flimsy cords on the bose phones, on top of the crappy earpieces. Indeed, they feel cheap and the shures are anything but.

:stupid:

I had to go with the Ink'd because the others stuck out too far (or my helmet sucks). I tried a bunch of different ones, but as soon as I slid the lid on, they would pop out of my ears.

I'll send you the broken ones and you can fix them.... The Bose units seemed cheap and have lasted 6 months... I hate long cords.

How do the Siege's sound vs. Shure?
I'll let you know in a week. I just order a set of the Siege's yesterday.

Although I loved the sound of my Shure's, the insulation on the cords cracked, split, then just disintegrated. When I called to inquire about warranty, the Shure CS was terrible. I told them that I didn't need to be berated by a CS rep for something that is a MFG issue - her reply?

"I don't know what that means." :thumb:

I'm speculating that it could have been from riding with them in the cold and that's why I'm hoping for good results with the Siege's. I think the inline mic made them even more attractive for commuting.

Dude you ain't kidding. I don't hear well to begin with and I could hear that thing with a full face on and at speed on loose rocks. You must really scare the crap out of the Eddie Bauer soccer moms.

I ordered a set of the Siege headphones w/mic. Ordered Friday, arrived on Wednesday - very nice. :thumb:

Cost - Paid $65 with shipping directly from Siege Audio. After receiving them, I see that you can get them from for $47.97 with free shipping. Oh well.

Sound - Honestly, I think my Shure's sounded slightly better for a full sound. The Siege's have more bass response, but it's a little muddy.

Construction - I love the construction of these things. The non-tangle cords are exactly that. So nice to have a soft sleeve casing with 3 sliders on the cords so you can secure them around your neck and get the position of the cord just right. They came with 6 different types of earbuds, so fit is not a problem. My only area for improvement would be to have the plug be a 90 instead of straight.

CS - Like I said, I ordered on Friday afternoon and they were here in 3 days. Also, there weren't very clear instruction included and it looks like parts of their website are under construction so I shot them an email last night requesting info and they answered this morning with answers for everything I asked.... a little better than getting chided by the Shure CS rep.

Overall - I think I'll be using these things for quite a while. If they break, I'd get another pair for sure, especially for less than $50.
