I need some new forks, I just bought a Ironhorse Porter 24" and the forks on it are pretty much wasted they are like pogo sticks and I tried to change the oil, etc. like the manual I found said but they still work the same.

Anyway does anyone know what the best rigid fork would be and what all would work for this bike, I need something by this weekend if possible.

Thanks

Yeah I noticed that Supercross fork, I am only worried about the fork not being tall enough.

I am only going to be dirt jumping and riding at skateparks, rays, etc.

Id rather have suspension still just dont have the dough right now.

But what kind of difference will this make if I put a fork on it that is 2-3 inches shorter than the one on there now, will it just lower the front end, or affect more than that?

I will change the way the bike handles with a much shorter fork like you are talking about. The solution for 26" wheels is to buy a "suspension corrected" fork, but I can't seem to find any for 24". I would measure the distance from the axle to the crown of the fork you have now and take that to a shop and see if they can match it up to something in their catalogs.

One solution may be to get a non suspension corrected 26" wheel fork and run that. If you have rim front brakes, you'll be running brake-less from that point on though.

I found a Identiti rebate fork, and a DMR trailblade fork, they both say will work for 24" they are both a little shorter than mine, but not very much, like mine is 20" these end up being like 18" or so, I assume this would still work fine, they must cause it appears lots of people run them on 24" and 26".

But I also found a different manual for mine that show way more psi and a way too adjust the internal rebound which the other one didnt say anything about that so maybe there is still hope in the forks I have.

They are 2006 Marzocchi dirt jam pro's and I found the problem now that I have the correct manual took them back apart tonight and the cartridge rod( or I assume its called that from my MX experience) is supposed to have threads at the bottom where it screws into the nut thing thats on the forks, and thats also how you adjust the rebound.

Well guess what the threads are gone, so the rod is just sitting in the forks with nothing to control anything.

So I am screwed basically I have no clue where to buy that peice or if you even can?

If anyone knows where I can get that let me know, if not I am bikeless till I get a rigid fork.

Do you have a decent local shop? If you do, have them look up the part for it and see if they can get new internals for that side. I would be ordering a new fork either way, that one sounds like it's on it's way out.
