I have my 2008 Felt Redemption with 160mm RockShox Domain on it now. The head angle is 67.5, but I still manage to fly down the mountain at Diablo. Could I put a Boxxer on it? Would a Totem also be too much? I know that Cam Zink rode one at Red Bull Rampage with a boxxer, but I don't know if its a good thing to do. (http://felt20.pinkbike.com/album/cam-on-felt-redmeption/ )

btw this is my bike.. http://2009.feltracing.com/08/product.asp?catid=1504,1526&pid=8733 with some modifications.
Thanks

You will probably void the warranty if you put a dual crown on it. How much rear travel does it have. If you do run a boxxer you may throw the geometry off. I would probably go with the totem if your looking to get more travel for the front end. Although i prefer a boxxer over the totem. I've ridden both and the boxxer is by far better in my opinion. Granted they are different fork types one a single crown and one a dual. For your application go for the totem.

Yea with 150 go with the totem. That would keep the geo pretty close to the same. If you put the boxxer on there is would ride alot different and throw the rear suspension off. Someone correct me im wrong. Hope this helps.

Livin it up in the O.C.
WHY do you want to put these forks on it?
Are you looking for MORE travel and a slacker headtube?
Do you just want better quality travel, but still 150mm worth?

I'm not saying you shouldn't get either one of these, but without this info it is tough to give advice.
The Boxxer will void the warranty, but honestly the Totem isprobably just as tall, if not taller than the boxxer if you are getting the 190mm totem. Plus, I'm not sure I'd want a totem with the 1.125in headtube. However, you may climb better with the totem vs Boxxer due to turning radius.

Totem is a sweet fork though. I have one on my 7pt.
Boxxer is great as well. As I said, we need to know what you are trying to accomplish.

The AC height on the Totem and the Boxxer is the same. Both I think will overwhelm the frame.
I agree. I think having something that big on the front is going to cause that frame to crack or possibly fail. Especially since there is such a big difference in front and rear suspension travel.

It may be time to upgrade if you ask me. That bike was just not made to handle that kind of travel and abuse that having a 190+ travel fork will put it through.

What is it you want to do with the bike? If the OP posts more information (height, weight, where ridden...etc) it would be possible to give more relevant responses.

Ignoring the frame, if you want to fly in Diablo, I would go with a Boxxer, but I don't know if that's where you'll be riding. The Boxxer is light and has direct mount stem mounting.

Yes, I ride at Diablo. I am 6' 2", 150 lbs and 16 years of age. I would like a slacker headtube and more travel...

I talked with the felt distributer and he said its okay to put a totem or boxxer on but as someone else said, the boxxer will void the warranty.

Wait, it is OK to put a Boxxer on it, but it will void the warrantee???

Doesn't that mean that it is NOT OK to put a Boxxer on it?
correct.

Sure you can put one on it. But when your frame cracks or something. They won't be responsible and don't have to honor their warranty. So your out of a bike.

That is the bottom of the stanchion where either the spring assembly, or the damper seal head (depending on which stanchion) is held in place by a circlip.

Failure at that location is generally from someone assembling the circlip up-side-down and having it pull out of the groove. There were a few that failed like the picture (the circlip ripped the the groove/end of stanchion off, but it certainly not something I would call common.

Repeated topout, non-equal stanchion heights, or mechanic error could be partially to blame, but IMO it was a batch of stanchions with circlip grooves that were too-deep, as most accounts I have heard of were fairly new forks (at the time)...or it does not happen...opposed to a failure that happens to many forks after repeated use.

As far as why it could not happen in a Totem....that is conjecture from someone who is ill informed. The Totem uses the same system to contain the damper and spring assembly in the stanchions. The only difference, is the Totem uses an internal sleeve to reduce oil volume and rebound piston diameter.
