My babies mom has met some interesting folks on plentyoffish. Since she just turned 40 it seems she got hit up by 2 types of people. 20 somethings looking for a quick score, and 50 something looking for a quick score.

She said the funniest thing is both types have the same lame one liners.

"you sure are hot for a woman your age..."

i just signed up for plentyoffish...figured it's free so i'd give it a shot.

WHY do guys never post up decent photos of themselves? woman may be accused of posting up inaccurate photos but men just post up the worst shots possible. what was i think? :banghead:

My own world inside my head
Before my met my wife at church (ie. not on a website), I signed up for Eharmony and took the million hours to fill out their matching information.

I made "Christian", "religious", honesty, trust, tall, blonde, etc. all important.

It set me up with two women. Both lived in Modesto, 2 hours away, and both were substantially younger than me and already had kids.

WTF?
WTF is with everyone I know that has tried Eharmony getting matchs in friggen modesto????

In my case, I am behind the camera almost all of the times and most guys don't take those cell phone, in the club, on the beach, in front of the mirror self shots that most girls/women do.

I actually wish that I had more pictures of myself to post that doesn't have me with my ex or with a helmet on.

How's that work?
s****e

To all of our surprise, the now gf and I hit it off great. It is proof that blind dates can be a raging success. I digress. Her mother hates me for the two following reasons.

1) My gf's used car (mint condition, owned for 2 months) was totaled at my apartment complex. A driver cut a corner too close and took down my carport, which I had given to my girlfriend because, oddly enough, I didn't trust it on the street. Her mother blames me. Gf loved the car, but had an amazing capacity for understanding.

2) Her mother gets weird whenever my gf gets close to a guy. Normally she gets over it around a year, but given the car situation above, she may hold this grudge until her deathbed.

Her mother sounds like a moron. You might want to move at least 1200 miles away.

:D

This man speaks the truth and shall be getting +rep for it!!!
You guys are both being speaking of the truth.

A 1,000 mile buffer, huh? I like where your mind is, but our worry would be that she'd be right behind us, ready to move wherever her daughter went.

Her mother is Jewish. I wish I could say the stereotype didn't apply...

I met my wife on a ski trip to Tahoe. :monkey:
:stupid:

I met my wife at one of our medieval events. I brought Irish Whiskey. She was dancing around a fire. She stole my Irish Whiskey!!! And as if that wasn't enough when I next saw her she didn't even remember who I was! She noticed me as I was clubbing folks with my mace. (Actually my wooden "sword" that we use so as not to actually kill each other) We talked for a while and were livign together 5 months later.

Every woman wants a knight in shining armour. My wife really got one. :D

It depends on the locale, but I find match pretty lame. okcupid and theonion personals seem to have cooler, more intelligent, and more, uh, "free spirited" girls. But theonion isn't free anymore.

I still have better luck (in quality and conversion rate) just walking up to girls in real life and asking them out. Maybe because every online date I've ever had has been significantly below expectations. But it's a useful tool to maintain a queue while you're traveling or working too hard to step outside for a couple of minutes.

I haven't been out on many online dates, and most have been mediocre. Anyone I ended up dating, I met in real life first, either on my own or through friends.

And MikeD, glad to know the Marine in you still takes over every once in awhile, but that was disgusting.

My folks did that with both my ex-wives. :disgust1:
Yea...it's easier to be blind from the inside. The part that really threw me off was when my grandma said something like "I just didn't see you two together". This coming from a little old lady that loves everybody. In hindsight, my ex really was a biatch.

You've met Steph. Everything's OK now.

(Note: I refrained from making a retort about it being "the Marine in those chicks", not the "Marine in me...")

I have been on it for close to 4 years (off and on) and it seems to keep the steady flow of possiblities coming. I will average 2-3 meetings a week and have had several out of state fly-ins.

I tried eHarmony for close to a year and not a thing transpired from any.

I would say 2 out of 10 matches are worth pursuing, the rest are pretty Gnar Gnar
