For sure, you could never take anything away from Hoffman. When xgames was invented me and my friends knew nothing of vert. We would watch it and DMC made everything look sooo stylish and fun it made you think you could alleyoop double peg grind the whole pipe if you tried a couple times. Of course thats not the case.

I allways respected the guys that made riding look smooth, fun and stylish more that the riders that that just did the big burly tricks, DMC, Robbie Morales, Brian Foster, those kind of riders.

What ever happened to this guy. . . Jay Miron - MacNeil DVD on Vimeo he didn't really get the props he deserved, burly for sure.

Jay Miron... the Canadian Beast. He owns Macneil. He hated competing, only did it to make some cash. Never met him, but jeez, dude pulled the first 540 t-whip on vert. Absolute monster.

hmmm....but the guy grew up riding 2hip comps, BS Comps, Rampage etc. there was definitely no cash during the mid-school years.

i could see burnout on X-Games later though.

Hoffman and DMC are beyond rad. I have to add Dominquez, Fiola, Wilkerson and Blyther to the list too. Old footage of them riding the original concrete skateparks is impressive even today. Like T.Tonta said - just smooth, stylish, and fun. I wish I could find it but back in a very old Super BMX or BMX Plus there was a shot of Dominquez airing out so very high on a crazy concrete 1/4 pipe.

I should probably start a "Where are they now" thread rathan than clutter up Joels Hoffman thread. . . .

But here is another guy that wasn't on the same level as a Hoffman or DMC but awsome in his own right, plus 4 pegs and 2 brakes. . . .

check this Mike D. run kids. I rode Pipeline a few years later after this was shot, this same bowl. Best I got was 2-3' out. Next day, I dropped an 11' air at an AFA comp on a wood quarter. This video shows how badass the real old school vets were. That bowl was so gnarly.

jay miron said not too long ago that he's not riding bmx anymore. he explained that when he rides he wants to basically go all out all the time or else its not fun/worth it for him. so i guess he's sticking to other bikes for the time being. total bad ass.
