dang! I was wondering what all those tandems were doing on the way out as we were pulling in.

Does it make me strange that I think it looks super fun and I want to buy a tandem? How long do you guys think my marriage would last? (cause she rides and doesn't know it yet but already called stoker) :D

LOL!

Reminds me of when I was working as a wrench, some guy brought in an Intense M1 tandem.

The bike had an old Mr. Dirt fork modded to run two discs. On top of that he was running Shimano AirLines. :eek:

We asked him about riding bike and his response was that it was the scariest thing he had ever done. Then he added that to ride this bike you had to have a crazy fried who wanted to get really high then go to the hospital.

NORCAL is the hizzle
Funny those two didn't even win the overall comp. Josh kicks ass on just about anything with two wheels.

:thumb::thumb:

And there are a bunch of people in that group who will tell you a tandem is the best way to figure out if you are in a relationship with the right person. I mean, it's certainly a good way to tackle trust issues...

I think I'd be down. The only thing I see as causing a fight would be pedal position... Not so much on an XC ride, but def. down mile!

Was their anyone even in the Gorilla suit.
7 foot wheelbase = mega stable. Stokers balance and knowing when to pedal and not is key, unless you have the cranks on seperate chains.
I have the fortune of having a girlfriend who's ridden horses bareback most of her life and has amazing balance, so I built a tandem with Monster Ts(with extra Boxxer spring inside monster spring and heavier oil)9" rotor, cromo frame. All you have to do is keep the front wheel straight, and time the pedaling(Popeye forearms would help). i sold it due to not being able to fit a big enough rear tyre in, and wanting shorter stays, to make it more manouverable, and climb better, also wanted to run the chain up over rollers and get the bottom tube higher as ground clearance is an issue with such a long wheel base. hopefully one day I'll get one built.
The old one flexed like a noodle. Managed to teach my girlfriend to bunny hop when I'd say now so we could get some air of jumps. I had a go on the back, and was terrified, I have no idea how my girlfriend stayed on so well.
Tandems have so much power, stability, and speed, it's like riding drunk though, instead of looking at a path about an inch wide where you think you'll go, you need to look at about 1-2foot wide an area as you can't control the stockers steering.
Sorry for the rant, just dig the tandems, nothing like over taking riders going either up or down.:thumb:
Insert some shady girlfriend joke below, I know I've left the door wide open.
