I've been following the Transit Connect since it was announced a few years ago. I would get one, but I wish it had a bit more guts. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 138 hp is going to be a slug on hilly roads - especially with a full load of bikes/gear

138 hp was what I had in my CRV and went up steep hills screaming. In Europe theses vans are all sold with diesel engines and then the a 2.0 four cylinder has plenty of torque for the hills.

no it was to show the world that you had surrendered your man card and that your wife has your balls in a plastic box that she lets you visit once a year on your birthday:rofl:
i think minivans (and "box vehicles" like the transit connect, Element, Scion xB, Cube, and even my Fit to some degree) are awesome in that they're very efficiently packaged. furthermore attitudes such as yours only drive down resale values. enjoy your barn-rear-door Clubman and its $10k price differential. :thumb:

How about one of these for an Element? http://www.ursaminorvehicles.com/camper.htm

Then you can put the bikes in the car and sleep on top. I have a buddy who reps/has a pop up camper that goes on top of the car. He has a Land Rover outfitted with it and its pretty sweet. He's 6'6" and fits fine, it pops up to roughly 3 feet and since your not sleeping on the ground, you don't get as damp. You can also buy insulated ones, but he hooked up a heater (and some other stuff) to a marine battery so that solved that. You could easily outfit it to most cars, but it may cut down on the mileage a little. Just a thought.

I'll be the first to admit that my wife makes me weak and has my balls in her purse. But you just can't beat how practical a minivan is. I skimp on cars since they're horrible investments. Gotta cut back somewhere. You skimp on bikes, hence the reason you rode that Straight sh!ts, i mean six for so long.

Being able to put my bikes on the rack out back, pull out the seats, sleep on a twin air mattress while watching DVD's, and get great mileage on road trips=no brainer for me.

I was trying to figure out what car that was. But yeah, now that you say it, those wheels do look like the stock 240SX wheels. Are you talking Pulsar as in the Jap only Pulsar? One of my buddies that works for COBB has one of those. It's pretty cool. Right hand drive. Fast little AWD car.

SO I was in town today and thought I would stop by the dealership see if they had and transit connects. come to find out they had one but it was a cutomers rig that just came in and they filled the back with shelves and what not. I start asking around to see if anyone would open it so I could look at it and the general manager ame out and to my surprise it was my old fleet manager when I was buying 4 superdutys a month for close to a year.

long story short.

the rig is awesome. 185 horse, plenty of snap, 25mpg long enough to sleep in, big enough cargo space to load two dirt bikes, and all the gadgets on the planet (wireless keyboard computer to surf the monkey while on the road) and tons of neat little innovations. they retail (xlt loaded) for 25K he is going to take a mini on the deal and ordered it today for 21k (the retail for the xl bare bones model)

kinda stoked after driving it. it was pretty darn comfy and didnt feel top heavy at all. too many good things about this vehicle not to reccomend to others. I would have never even looked at something like this unless I needed a rig for my place in germany, I may buy one for stateside shennanigans as well.
