Behind the old fallen tree. :clue:

As we finished the cliff drop line we began to wonder if Sam would hit it. We had no doubt that he could but we weren’t sure if he would want to. We wondered if he would reject the line as being too wet and freshly built and not worth the risk to his health? After all Sam is the World Cup DH Champion and he has fulfilled all of his sponsor obligations this year to the highest degree, he obviously has nothing to prove. As things turned out Sam was stoked to hit the cliff drop. He said he hadn’t ridden anything like the cliff drop line since he’d started professional racing. He said he would be stoked to see something like a cliff drop integrated in to a world cup downhill racecourse, as they are a representative aspect of mountain biking. A statement most North Shore riders would be stoked to hear.

Towing the party line.
I rode various versions of those tires all season, they performed really well. They seemed a bit squirmey (me?) in the mega wet North Shore late fall, but besides that were aces. I ran them tubeless, had no burps, no sidewall tears etc.

Recommended!

judging by the name - Butch probably is to credit for this new tire and probably rode them first.

;)
No fair guys. No ganging up on me now. Swing one at a time! :p

As for the tire, well I did stand beside a guy who works at Specialized a few months ago, so obviously it's mine. I'm gonna contact my attorney.

Aw c'mon now - you're just jealous 'cause he got to ride the fancy Day-Glo orange DW-Link DHR first... :D
You're still bitter about those text messages with it on my truck aren't you. I was just messing with you.

Well he is a shoe inventor.
Correction, I did not invent a shoe. I invented shoes and every time you take a step, you owe me a penny.:thumb:

I already have the other half of dw's 2 new DH creations.
:D

and may not recognize the two tires are facing in opposite directions . . .
I was gonna say something about that but figured people would see it... oh well... LoL.

The Specialized tire engineer was poached from Maxxis 4-5 years ago, so what do you expect?

They probably will make a UST version. Specialized calls it Grid or something, but basically specs a UST casing.

... what's the compound like?

I really want something like 50a for economical rear tire bikepark use. I'd buy the Maxxis or Spec version of that.

The compound on the ones I rode was super sticky, but actually wore pretty well. Eventually they started to self destruct with huge knobs chunking off, but only after a few weeks of daily rides at Whistler and on the North Shore.

Nice! that sounds very unlike Maxxis.

Will def pick up one of those to try.

Did you run them with a Stan's kit or on a UST rim?

If these come in UST I'd definitely give them a try.

The side knobs look a bit better than the minion side knobs. I think those side knobs are why I prefer a High Roller
