That guy's a jackass. Basically cobbles together junk he finds for free/dirt cheap (he plunders the local bike collective quite regularly), assembles something resembling a bicycle and sells at a profit.
I made the mistake of trading him an Ellsworth Specialist frame for a Trek Liquid. The Specialist had an ovalized headtube (that I informed him about). I saw it a week later on CL built up with a SID, Wal-Mart cranks, a hybrid stem, and Rhyno Lites.
