Rocky, dry, hot, little bit dusty, rocky, and as track is wearing - more rocks appear! Track is short - elite will go sub 2 min - but track all gold from top to bottom.

Yes we have mountains in Oz, our highest being about 2200 metres .Also got a few lift assisted ski/bike resorts.Weedkillers description of the dh course is spot on.
The track is in an old quarry and has an elevation drop of around 100 metres which sounds a bit lame but is actually a super fun techy track.
Just google"Eagle mtb park" and you should get a few good pics.

Sam Hill is to good to do the nats in his own country?
Maybe it's more a reason not to do the Nats because if and when he wins, he has to wear a silly AUS champ jersey all year, and considering AUS pays him nothing and AUS doesn't even support a MTB program anymore its more a hinderance to win the AUS nats...(any nats for that matter)

he has to wear the jersey if he wins? its better than not wearing a World Champ jersey i guess

interesting looking course. it kinda looks like a backyard race. im guessing this mountain isnt a big resort?

Anyone does

The UCI really enforces the rule that requires all National Champions to wear their National Champion jersey at every UCI ranked event the following season. Even the rainbow jersey is a 'bit' of a marketing failure, but the pride and mileage you get otherwise makes up for not having proper logo-age throughout the season. Correct me if I am wrong, but this rule from 4-5 years ago has kept many riders from racing their national championships (current experts correct me if I am wrong).

The rule is still there, sort of. Guys are getting away with wearing their regular team jersey and an arm band with their national colors on one or both sleeves. I think there should be some recognition of each national champion and this seems like a fair enough compromise. National pride without shafting the sponsors.

There's last years Aussie DH champ, Micheal Hannah, running strips on each shoulder! Strange to have a national champs track on a sub 2min course. there'll be tight racing today I bet.

In a tightly fought race for the downhill title at the SRAM Australian Mountain Bike Championships in Adelaide today, Chris Kovarik won his fourth national title while world number one, and pre-race favourite, Sam Hill crashed on the final corner just metres from the finish line.

Hill had set the fastest time in the qualifying round to be the last rider out of the start house and looked set to claim the title until it all came undone in sight of the line. Unscathed from the fall he got back up and crossed the line to finish fifth.

Chris kovarick won, sam binned it in the last corner ans was out of the top 10. Results are on the aust champs website. Shaun o'connor, rhys willemse, josh button, amiel, mitch delfs were all in the top 10, think there was about 5 sec between 1 and 10.

Anyone from anywhere can compete, but they can't be our National Champion in their division. So Buchar won the National Championships but Claire Whiteman in third is the Australian National Champion.

It's happened quite a lot over the years, although usually in the elite womens division.

This is 18 year old Rhys Willemse. He has just started riding again after breaking his femur and finger 3 months ago. 2 days before the champs, he noticed his hand was sore from riding and went for a x ray. He found out he also broke his hand 3 months ago and because of floating bone, it hasn't been able to heal. He's booked in for surgery next week. This didn't stop him from racing and qualified 5th and finished a credible 7th. Ancillotti are going to be happy with this kid once he is 100% fit again.
