Learning tables began a huge progression for me, I started to get more stylish over hips and I could pull them almost anywhere. Learning tuck no-handers was probably the biggest gateway trick I'd learned all of last year. Suddenly I had more confidence for everything. But as far as the most valuable skill on a bike.. I'd say you can never get TOO good at pumping, it is probably one of the single most important skills to have. And like I said I don't think you can ever become perfect at pumping, there will always be progression to be had. Faster and faster.

I have been working on perfecting tuck no handers for a few months now. And it really depends on what variation I am doing but for kind of an original tuck no hander: They are easiest to learn flying out of a ~5ft quarter. Right as you are about to level off, Pull the bars in fast towards your waist, right when you feel the bar hit your waist lean your head forward just a bit. Imagine your axle has really long pegs on it (like a foot long) and pretend you are reaching for those pegs, then hold for as long as you like. When you want to bring them back, just lean your head back a little bit and bring your hands back to your bars and push them forward to land.

The easiest ones for me to do, your bike does the work for you. Throw your bars to your waist and then throw your hands straight down like you are reaching down at your crankset. For some reason once I am getting ready to land for this one, just pulling my hands back to the position they'd be when I land, the bars seem to meet my hands there. That might just be me though...

One thing that helped me learning to get comfortable with them: it may be scary.. but learn forward heavily, try to get your face close to the front wheel. For some reason once I learned to be comfortable with that, I felt more confidence in holding the tucks longer and going higher.

I'd say the griz... you never know when one of your buds is just too close to you in a train and you need to kick them in the face...

I'm waving. Can you see me now?
I'd say that when my brakes stopped working, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I go much faster in teh park. I learned cutties, inward table out of the quarters, and I learned tons more bike control.

My best trick or accomplishment is that I'm 40 and still getting better at riding trails.

I still suck though. . . .

ok since i guess bunnyhops werent the best thing i learned, maybe manuals?
No way bunnyhopping is by far the most useful thing I have ever learned. I have ridden with guys for years who have never really mastered hopping and it holds them back.

Looking hip it the best trick I know. I am also good at color coordinationg my girl pants with a sick belt and my girlfriends shirt, then I can text one person and nine show up to ride. I do all of this with no brakes, because I fvcking rule and look rad. The hipper I look, the less I have to dig, or ride for that matter. The hippest kats dont even ride, they just show up and tell everyone how f'in rad the flyout 3's they do in the park are. All that tuck no hander/bunnyhop crap is for fags anyway. Lemme see you do a backflip into the foam pit! Then you can come talk to me. I'll post some vids on pinkbike once I'm done on xbox. Did I mention I can footjam a boxxer wc? Yea, so there.

HAHA!

ps- gotta agree the brakes post by truth. When I had a bmx bike I was at trails and snapped my brake cable. I was freaked out to ride but did anyway cuz I was so pissed and it was sketchy at first since the jumps were big but it really helped out trying to smooth out lines and get dialed.

also got decent at ditching over the years aha
