Congrats to the Polcster!

Hope Dave Trump and CVD had better luck than Needles and Micayala... Jesus... hope she is OK.

It looked like there were some riders bunching up before the jump and she had to check her speed...?

One of the cool things about this race is that all of the organizers and racers stay int he same hotel. It gets rented by the event with our own security etc.

More photos here: http://transcendmagazine.com/gallery/vca2010 and a full report to come on RM in the next 48 hours or so as I work my way back to North America.

Here is about half of the people staying at the place all week. There's at least 10 nationalities in this photo!

Dave took my new GoPro down there, lets see some helmet cam of the track.
Heikki rocked my Vholdr on his quali so i'll see what I can do to get that online. Might be tough today but i'll see what I can do!

Just ran into Victor and he had a stack of newspapers with front page coverage of the event, so stoked for these guys! Victor and the rest of the crew worked their asses off to get the course built and I can't imagine the amount of logistical and political hoops they had to jump through to get the event pulled off in the city. Mad props to these guys.

Cool race - sorry to hear people got hurt. The course looks pretty damn gnarly.

Micayla is battered and bruised and going to the doctor again today, but should be ok. Needles is stitches up and laughing about it. FYI stitches in chile only cost $140 usd (70 000 pesos).

Assembling video at airport today for race recap. I have tons of great footage thanks to all the riders and Go Pro. Should be able to Upload as soon as I get home.

Well - that's good to hear! Micayala looked like she really got worked over. $140 for STITCHES? ... wow... well I guess if you're going to get torn up - Valpo is the place to do it then. LoL.

Glad to hear Needles and Micayala are doing better.:thumb:

What'd the cost be in the US, out of interest?

UK may suck in many many ways, but you gotta love the free medical treatment we get from the National Health Service :)

Last time I got stitches it cost about $700. I don't think it's always that expensive, but since I got 14 stitches in my chin for an awkward gash it was a bit more difficult. I think usually it's around $3-400 or so? Either way, thank god for insurance...

I do remember having to pay $700 CDN just for them to LOOK at my foot at Whistler when I thought I'd broken it. Good old holiday insurance! :)

Not totally related but still pretty rad - VOD on pinkbike is from an urban race in a mall!

http://www.pinkbike.com/video/123268/

+1 for bringing bike racing to the masses.
Pip3r - I've ALWAYS wanted to organize something like this! Sweet vid and definitely a cool way to bring the sport to the masses...

EDIT: I'm wondering though: How did they get the owners of the Mall to go along with this? (Insurance risks - I know things are different in the EU but damn...) Who pays from buffing the skidmarks out of the floor? Damage from a racer stacking it? Red Bull I guess? Hmmm...

I just went through all the videos and photos and have to say Im a bit disapointed. I had to attend a family reunion down south so I couldnt attend the race. It looks like the cut the track A LOT in comparison to previous years and from what I've been told, security around the track was ****.

That aside, organising an event this size in Valpo this time of year is next to imposible and you have to hand it to Victor for putting up an event like this.

From the video interview Fraser put up, I gotta say... Needles sounds like spoiled kid! ahahaha, anyways, I hope they stick around for the race this weekend!

No cuts to the track at all, in fact, much more added. Security was high, which was to the benefit of all racers and fans due to the amount of crashes that happenned.

Remember, it was a UCI cat 1 race this year, it has to pass inspection by the UCI commissar (who was really easy going, btw.)

did you see the track when it went through the old jail house? The track Brendan ran on... Anyway, good to hear you got a good impression! It sounded like Andrew was almost scared of the place... haha, can't make everyone happy.

I'd be scared too...pavement is hard.

Sooo many spots to clip a bar or pedal in that chest cam vid. Looks sketchy for sure...and I'm sure its steeper than it looks.
