not quite the same as saint. the pin that holds in the brake pads on saint was a screw in with a clip. This looks like its just the long cotter pin used on the older deore brakes.

You're right. They're not the old Deores though, because the caliper shape is a little different. The LXs used the same shaped caliper and pads as the XT/ Saints, but a cotter pin. I'm thinking they might be those.

I know what they're marketed for. I'm just trying to figure out if their resemblance to the older LX brakes is purely cosmetic, or if they're actually a viable option. Are you speaking from experience, or speculating? Not flaming, that's a genuine question.
they do not feel anything like the old LX version. they really just feel cheaper. every OEM one that i've worked on, brakes squeak instantly out of the box. either have to use lots of brakeclean or new rotors and pads fixed the problem. but still, no amount of bleeding will they feel like the old LX/XT ones.
i still have 3 sets of the older Shimano brakes. 2 with the LX level bodies, straightline levers, saint calipers. and the other is the XTR brake levers/saint calipers. alfine are no where close to them.
