Helmet cams on race runs banned?

Just wondering, almost everyone seems to have some sort of "mod" or customization on their bikes. Can the camera be mounted somewhere on the bike during a race run? Surely it won't void the warranty on a set of handlebars or a frame.

just to add my $.02 - seems like a stupid rule. most helmet cams do absolutely nothing to modify the structural integrity of a helmet. most do not require you to drill into the helmet to attached the camera holder. falling down and hitting your camera against the helmet can't be as bad as falling in a rock garden. maybe i am overlooking something. anyway, i hate politics.

maybe its less to do with safety (as mentioned what about chest/frame mount?) and more heading toward who has "rights" to the resulting video footage?

Makes sense to me... If you fell, and landed on the came, the pointy mount seems that it would focus all the energy into a small area, possibly puncturing the foam. Helmets are designed to absorb and re-distribute the load, and something like that on the helmet can compromise its goals...

That said, I would still ride with one on my helmet...

based on most of the set-ups i have seen, i would think they would break off before piercing a helmet.

so are they being banned from all races or just at select venues? anyone got anymore insight on that?

I think the first thing that happens to the camera when You fall on Your head is the it's instantly torn off.
What about MX pro riders using helmet cams during races? Are they DQed as well??

It's just stupid...

If this is true all pointy rocks must be removed from DH tracks.

I chesty'd my last race run. Good to work out what you do different in race runs to practice - where in my case I just ride a whole lot slower!

The next idea would be to ban all the hot chicks from the races. They are really distracting and that is dangerous... Though seriously - unless someone points me to the uci rule it's not really banned.

The real question is why was he wearing a backpack during a 80 second race? just kidding. But that is stupid I do not see how a helmet cam could damage a helmet.

i've stripped the paint off my frame that invalidates the warrenty of my frame, i've painted my D2 no warrenty there.
i've serviced my own forks using a non recommended SRAM products. bled my brakes with non shimano mineral fluid.
dam the whole bike should be non fit to race if this goes on.
the helmet camera wasnt even fitted to the helmet it was fitted to the goggle strap.
