Tomorrow in the AM I shove off for the mountains. I will be staying in Winter Park at a hostel there & skiing for a few days then moving west for more skiing (powderhorn & sunlight maybe), snowshoeing & other fun.
Then I will head to moab for a week of riding & some backpacking.
From there my itinerary is wide open with maybe Zion & the Grand Canyon or where ever the weather is decent.

I am bringing skis (dh & xc), snowshoes, my bike & backpacking/camping gear. I am stoked! :thumb:

If anyone is in any of these places & would like to ride or have a beer holla at me!

posting from a HOJO about to hit it.

looked at the detour....looks like it will be a nice scenic drive. May try get a day in at Steamboat. Gotta check some prices.

Now off to Winter Park for a few days. Keep your fingers crossed a blue L will appear on the weather map. :D

good thing I brought the skinny skis. :D surely they have some nordic trails. but I am thinking by the end of the week my legs will be toast. I dunno....i like having options.

Go just outside of town towards Fish Creek Falls - it's not really too far in, but it's really cool! And don't forget to try to get up to Strawberry Hot Springs for the naked hippy chicks. :brows:

Might ski cooper or copper or whatever the hell it is called. I would love to do WP/MJ again but I gotta find a deal cuz $96 is wack.
got a ticket for powderhorn, so I am gonna hit that place up & maybe sunlight too.
today was a stellar first day. had the first chair up & laid fresh tracks on my first three runs. Now i am sitting at the hostel finishing up a burrito sipping a Odell IPA. life is good.

Next week will be crazy here. Evidently that is when it is in full swing & the town is going to be booked to the gills according to the night manager here. Glad i will be gone. :thumb:

Going to do some xc skiing today or snowshoeing, depending on how far I feel like driving.

I have to admit without L with me, i have gotten a little homesick from time to time.



Weather in moab next week....
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 57.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 33.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 59.

Just had a great weekend with DNA & his wife & bud of his. logged TONS of miles on the trails! ;)
Saw some beautiful vistas & played in the snow, drank beers, good times. :cheers:

Skied Powderhorn today. they had 12" in the last 48 hrs. so the skiing was great & the temps were in the upper 40's. couldnt have been any better. then drove to GJ & stopped at the awesome beer barn. that place rocks. spent about $50 on beers.
I am now posting from the lazy lizard in moab. $25 for a room!!!!! will be camping tomorrow night & for the rest of the week.
gonna look into to hiking one of the peaks in the la sals. supposed to be easier when there is snow on the ground & supposedly can be done in snow shoes. We'll see...
