I think I might head to Sedona for some backpacking. Anyone got any recs on trails to hike, rocks to see, places to camp, burrito joints to eat at, etc....

Consider heading for Havasupai if you want to backpack. Amazing... although the trail might be snowy this time of year?
every trail i have hiked has been snowy/icy, some have been sketchy as hell. :)

AngryMetalsmith- you are right. I am not driving with an aluminum sail on my car for nothing. L said she would mail me my xt rdr. I could stay here in Flag for few more days. they have good skiing here & great beer. :D

Dude, derailleurs don't expire on the shelf. Get a new one and ride! The NIB at home will still be sitting there when you kill the one that you buy on the road, whether it's in 3 months or 3 years.

And the cost of overnighting the NIB from home...why bother? Just get a new one.

Not to discount hiking, but still...

When I got to New Zealand, I realized I'd failed to convert my 20mm thru-axle rear hub to a QR for use on my Turner. Ooops. Found a machine shop within 2-3 hours, and they milled me up a super-heavy steel adapter that served me well through 3 months of riding.

Last time we were in Sedona, we out started from the Bell Rock trailhead. There was a bike shop near by, Sedona Bike and Bean (???), that had trail maps and recommended an awesome ride. Most of the trails we were on had both hikers and bikers, I'd recommend being in the latter group.

Are you heading north after Sedona?

Might want to stop in Page, AZ for some slot canyon... ;)
