Why not put the money toward traveling/registration fees for the Gravity East series? Tons of great mountains, and a lot more variety than picking one park and riding it every free weekend.

Must Hit:
Massanutten
Sugarbush
Killington
Whiteface

The other 4 resorts are great as well.

I do Diablo, but I'm in North Manhattan, and they're ~45-60mins away (depending on driving mood)

Platte is my heart, but they're all fun; I'd say be pragmatic, and get the one thats closest so you can ride lots, then travel like a gypsie for the rest!

Highland

Have gone with Platty in the past.
all depends what's close and can get the most variety/riding in.

Platty has huge variety of trails and two "peaks" but little in the way of "freeride" compared to the others...
Diablo has a fast lift, very well built features, and jump runs so you can pretend you're on a BMX bike and not a DH bike.
Whiteface has huge trails but you'll end up spending most of your time on the same trails. Worth a trip or three but maybe not a season's unless you are close.
Nothing to add on VE
Highland is rad but has six trails and 0 vertical drop. Great features and really nice trails maintenance, but if you love real DH you'll find it lacking compared to Pkill or Whiteface. Great jump runs. Slow lift.

I'm considering a season's at pkill even though I'm 4.5 hours away...riding is just better and more varied and so much more natural vs. a bike "park". I've tried everywhere around the NE, just about, and plattekill is always #1 on my list for some reason.
