Just put in an order for a set of 36-hole (I'm huge for those that question a 36h rim on a roadie) Lemon Yellow Velocity Deep V's on DT Swiss 240's.

I'm stoked. Yeah yeah yeah... I know... pics or stfu...

I'll post pics when they arrive.

Something about DT hubs and Velocity rims that makes my head spin. Why not some DT 515s or something?

What bike is this going on?

Ha...pulled a trick on you James!! DT240's don't come in 36 hole!!! (They emailed me...heh...) So now they're going to be Phil Wood hubs.

A couple of messenger guys (who are on the larger side) I pal around with love their Deep V's.

They're going to go on the Scott CX Team I have. After my crash, my front rim was really toast (as opposed to just needing to be replaced), and my rear wasn't in much better shape.

Side note: Original Mavic hubs aren't in too bad of shape so maybe when I find a new job I'll have them laced to something for a summer wheelset or something.

Shrug...we'll see how they hold up.

See? There was your chance to rock a "normal" wheelset! 32* DT240s on DT rims or Open Pros? Bombproof.
Velocity strikes me as a fixie pixie wheelset. I'm sorry, I don't mean to poop on your parade, the wheels will be damn rad, that's for sure. Phil hubs...mmm...

What Mavic hubs were on there to begin with?

Original wheelset were Askiums. Rear wheel lasted all of 3k. Hub's still good but the rim was shot. Started snapping spokes every couple of rides...Slapped a 36h 29'r rhynolite laced to a xt hub on there...lasted me quite awhile (8k I think).

And yes, the velocity's are fixie pixie. I was going to go with tangerine...but I don't think even I could pull that off...so yellow at least matches the bike somewhat...

I had given open pros some thought as well as going 32 hole dt swiss...but 36h velocity with the phils should give me some durability that I have been severely lacking recently.

Deep v's are pretty awesome. Just pull the stickers on and **** the stigma. Wicked strong at a super reasonable weight, Aussie construction and excellent pricing.

Based on the wheels you killed, I withdraw my complaint. Mostly. The yellow still gets me. What's the bike again?

Ride hard, you stallion!

Oh yeah...forgot to mention that some Conti GP4000 25's will be adorning the new hoops as well as a new Fizik Antares saddle and a brand new Bell Volt (I split the last one into 3 pieces...but my melon's in one...). I liked the color of my old one better (green)...the new one is teal...ugh...but I couldn't find a better deal so I guess I'll live.

Gonna have to take some sand paper to the shifters...I wanted new ones but $300 for 105's is a pisser. I can live with scratches and dings I 'spose...Got new flat top bars too...should be a bit more comfy. I hope the wheels show up in the next couple of days.

Man, those are going to look GOOD when they're all done up! But please tell me that you're not going to run colored tires on there...

Uh...no. Conti GP 4000's.

If I would run colors it would be Michelin Pro 3's with the yellow stripes, thank you very much.

Even the DH'er that does centuries cares a little bit about matching...just a little!!

I do have the most Jazzercize-arific helmet though...wait until a ride photo comes up...holy crap it's gross. But it was cheap and the same model that saved a major concussion last time...so suck it fashion gods!!!

Well, screw. I went looking for my camera and realized that I had sent it with the wife for the weekend.

The bike looks really nice...and it's lighter!!!

I found out that I SUCK at wrapping bars. There's bad, worse, and then me. Jesus....Oh, and I forgot to test ride (I sat on the bike and thought to myself "Yeah...this will work great!!!" uhhhhh....no.) the position of the shifters....That was a rude surprise after doing a sh*t wrap job.

Plus side is everything is working and feels good now. Just need to get my iron butt that I left behind 6 months ago... :(

Pics on Sunday afternoon...

Bleh.
