slalom in the south

The DJ spot called Bigfoot near Windrock DH trails (outside Knoxville) has a primo yet neglected slalom/4x line that would be great if some guys came together to fix it. Really nice elevation drop.
Any other ideas on a location?

If you are in college there is slalom racing at Lees McCrae College and ETSU, and Wisp resort in MD has a public slalom track and holds races every year

I believe Clemson's got a slalom track, not sure if there will be any races this year.
We are going to build a slalom line in Greensboro in the near future with the hopes to have a race sometime this summer. I should emphasize hope...

ETSU is having slalom and MTX later this month. I think the 24th?

My race is no more, land owner died. Good news is I still get
to practice there with a guest here and there but, not a legal
spot anymore.

I think no one has worked on BigFoot because everytime it
gets fixed up then it rains and washes the sh!t out of it
and needs to be totally redone. A cool enough course
not much passing kinda straight down the hill so that's
why it washes I think.

I would show up to race you buddy, but it will take more
than a few poles in the ground to attract a good field.
Unless there is a good purse!

Yeah, it sucks that there isn't any slalom racing for us non-college folks. Didn't i hear somewhere that Ryan was going to have slalom at Beech this year??? Did this fall thru?? Ryan? Anybody?

I would really like to try to get a public race going on the Lees Mcrae DS track this summer. We are working on it but kind of have our hands full.

Virginia Tech freeride club has a dual slalom track.

So any body got any news on the ETSU race? April 24th?

ETSU race is on, and going to be a good time. The race is the 24th and 25th, and there will be slalom, 4x, downhill, as well as time trial and short track. We just finished the 4x course; it's BIG, and fun. Everything after the step up has been changed. I'm guessing Thomas will post something official, but hopefully these will hold you over.

Conor beat me to it, but yes the race is still on. Just so everyone knows, the race is open to the public, not just collegiate. Our DS course is pretty traditional, lots of berms, some flat turns, small jumps and so on. The 4x course is going to be ~40 seconds long full of interesting passing opportunities and big jumps, all of which are very easily rollable. I will post some pictures up on the race thread also for those interested.

I have a good slalom track that were worked on a lot over the Fall.. if you guys wanted to do some training on it you are welcome to.. I have Freelap timing setup and everything.

I'd love to do some slalom or 4x racing this season, and I'm more than willing to put some effort into a track.

The track at Bigfoot is still there, and, realistically, it's not much worse off than it was multiple years ago. With a little work, it could easily be raceable, at least for a 2x setup. I rode out there the other day, and the only thing that sucks is that someone, (I'm guessing the city), has put up concrete barriers at the gate, so getting a vehicle up the hill is no longer an option. Still, you don't really need to shuttle a track like that. A weedeater, a few shovels, and a few guys to move dirt, and we'd be racing in no time. You up for that?

I also have big plans to build a track out at the TTC Gravity Park. That will take a good bit of time and effort, but we're making serious progress out there as it is!

I wish I'd heard about the ETSU race a little earlier. That should be a good time!

Here is the track that I designed and built for Lindsey Wilson last year. We want to host a non-collegiate race but I'm really reluctant because I'm afraid everyone wouldn't drive to KY for just a slalom gig. It takes me 5 hours to get to Beech Mtn in case you are wondering.

charlie,,think you could find a place to build one at the ttc??next time your out our way, i can drive you around the mtn. and all the lower land the ttc owns, and see if you see any area promising for a 4 or 2x course. nice vids by the way

Since beech is only sat now, how bout a race on a sunday of a weekend beech has a dh race. 100 riders give or take at ea beech race last year. And run a big bike class for dh rigs to keep us w/ no slalom bike in the mix

I think Beech & Hawksnest should do a Sat/Sun race. Combined time wins.
