Totally true story: My old band (they still exist, I retired) To Hell and Back were opening for Carnivore a couple of years ago. We're doing sound check and I start playing "Into the Void" by Sabbath. Steele is sitting at the bar, eating a pile of fried chicken. He gets up on his bar stool and yells, "NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO PLAY BASS BETTER THAN ME!" Chicken spittle flies everywhere as he yells. He jumps up on stage and demands that we play 'Paranoid' "RIGHT NOW!". We look at each other and I can sense that everyone is a bit scared - I mean, the guy looks like Teeth from those James Bond movies meets the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla from Road Warrior, for crying out loud! In the end we obliged, though poorly. He is singing along, chicken spittle flying every where still, I mean it is coating the mic at this point...he finishes, doesn't beat us up, gets off the stage and finishes his dinner at the bar...

This is my first reply that I can remember to a RIP thread. I'm a huge Type O Negative fan. Truely bummed. They're one of the few bands that never made an album I didn't like start to finish.

Toured with them back in '97. Cool guys.

RIP.
I visualized you saying that right after taking a last haul off a cigarette, dropping it on the ground, then saying the words through a cloud of second hand smoke.

It's like I was there.
