Only one Wisp race?

I called the other day and asked about that - the women I talked to said they are "talking" about having more

I tried that google thing too and found nothing. Too bad this is the same weekend as the first race of the Vertical Earth Series. I hope they have more races that don't confilct with other races.

Hartlove is no longer running the racing at the Wisp.

The guy that is now organizing the races, Michael Velache (sp?) is a douche.

I wouldn't expect much.

Great place/venue when it's done right... Hartlove style.

Maybe when they realize what they had they'll come back to it.

Well, that's a little over the top and uncalled for don't you think?!?! It's hard to make a business case for a race to resort management when it's a money losing proposition. When USA Cycling fees, promoters profit and employee salaries are paid out it's a total bust for places like Wisp...and most every resort in the area.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I think you're calling this one without knowing both sides of the story. Wisp may have it's haters, but Hartlove has plenty of haters out there as well (not expressing my feelings either way on either side).

Look, I'm sure they're both douches, but it would be nice if someone could make a Wisp race happen in July. Seems like there's a big gap in the schedule for the Mid-Atlantic, and I bet they could get great turnout for an event on the weekend of the 17-18. I'll pick up the phone and call them myself if nobody volunteers, but if one of you has an inside track to the powers that be, why not make the suggestion.

The problem in the past, aside from crappy weather, was that they kept scheduling things the same weekend as Snowshoe/Diablo/GES races. Now I've always loved racing at Wisp, but they've gotta know they're going to lose those conflicts.

I don't know if I would ever go back to wisp for a race, the lift is just so damn slow. The Slalom course is awesome but I wouldn't make the trip for slalom alone.

Wisp is having a race Sept 11-12. Downhill on Sunday. Slalom on Saturday. Probably run high roller for the race on Sunday but I have no idea. I went and rode there on Monday. It wasnt bad...not a lot of bikers.
