Does poop need welds? Because it sure as hell looks like poop to me.

Though I wonder what they are covering as a flat black bike isn't the best marketing I know.

I can't believe no one claimed photochop yet, or carbon stickers. Come on!

This is too funny.

And whoever wrote the book about Trek not going carbon - do you really think Trek is going to be left out of this party? Whether it makes sense or not based on your theory, I don't think it matters. Trek and Giant won't be far behind. Unless...they are already too far behind and then they'll just claim that carbon doesn't make sense for DH bikes.

if you ask me, its like an sx demo, which it should be... I wonder how much weight has been lowered considering its missing a tube.. 300 grms?

you can see the edges of the vinyl wrap everywhere (which covers some of the welds & gives the blended corner look of carbon). alas.
You may be right. I can't see the point myself, what are they hiding ? Unless it's got...... ADJUSTABLE FRAME JOINTS :eek::eek:

I think it makes allot of sense to stay away from carbon and beat your competition on price points. A carbon frame is going to run at least 500 to 1000 more then an aluminum frame. In this economy it may make sense to keep you prices low.

Word on VitalMTB via Sven that it is indeed aluminum, guess I'm the joker.

If Spec can keep the Demo frame price around $2200 like they are now, they will sell tons.

Anyone know the retail on the GT Fury or Santa Cruz V10c?

o my god -the big S is bringing out a new DH Bike after 3 years. I am sure it will be promoted as the best of the best and will be ugly as most of the newer Specialized bikes ..... and no carbon, what a shame

Hmmm, maybe because the "shock opening" is a one piece forging made out of ALUMINUM.

You jokers think it is carbon just because it's black?
Wow, if you know how to forge 1 piece of Aluminum like that, you would be a millionaire in the manufacturing industry

Guys, this is surely nothing more than a proto a very long way off production.... though I strongly agree that it looks more than a little like they tacked an SX front triangle onto a Demo rear. Can't wait to see today what they've come up with though.

it's funny you say that about Fanboy's. I see more people riding Demo's not because they are fans or fanboy's but because the build/cost ratio is pretty good on the Demo's and access to them is readily available (or was)

I think Specialized is finally getting their heads in the right place regarding the demo. It probably has alot to do with having the #1 rider in the world testing and giving feedback about the bike, or maybe its like some of you think and just winging it.

I'm not too suprised the top guys aren't running the air shock especially at Maribor. I sure as hell wouldnt gamble a world cup DH run on something that new.

Totally agree but it kinda goes against what Boobar was saying on the sea otter vid regarding the new air vivid. He stated that the top guys rode a dialed coil vivid and swapped to the air and then back to coil over and over on a DH track and every one selected the air over the coil(hannah, peat etc).

If somebody told me a few years ago that by now Air forks/shocks and carbon fiber frames were the sh1t on a WC level i would have laughed. Now, not so much

True, but if they have in fact been testing it they way RS described surely they could test a practice run, no?

. . . but the updated v10 and demo are also fairly new to the riders so maybe more testing first before they try the air shock; one change at a time. Who knows.
