I know how popular vegetarians are here

My next door neighborhood, famous for his barbecues, was chosen some vegetarian/videographers to do a piece about changing to vegetarianism.

Instead of his beer can chicken, they are going to reproduce it vegetarian-style.

Since I am friends with all of these people, I probably will be chill during the filming.
.
.
.
.
.

But, if I chose not to be, the first thing I would say is, "This dish [I think they are going to make it out of pears and a garlic rub] is definitely not as good as beer-can chicken." The next thing I would say is "Is this the lecture-portion of how to be a vegetarian? Because there is nothing that whets the appetite like receiving a self-righteous lecture".

And my final comment is when my neighbor makes his beer-can chicken, and I keep saying, hmm, that smells so good. Don't you just want a piece?

Yeah, I might spend a few extra cycles thinking about ways to be an asshat, but think of it this way:

You participate in the filming, sample the food and it rather lacks in flavor and savoriness.

You make a polite comment about it without realizing the entire crew are militant vegetarians with an agenda, and they begin to cajole you to like the food, insult the way you live, and act insufferably.

Wouldn't a few good retorts, even if they aren't spontaneous, keep thing honest?

Take that and flip it to you militant meat eaters after us vegetarians tell you politely that we don't eat meat and then talk to me again.

I have had more than a few people act like I killed one of their family members when I tell them no thank you, I don't eat meat.

The reason he does this with you is his hopes of achieving assmosis from you.(the act of learning to be an ass by association).

At least he's trying. :D

Uh, but I was a vegetarian. The most important phase of my dietary life.

I only eat meat maybe 2-3 times a week now.

When I was at the US Open this year, we told some waitress at a pizza joint that we were vegan and she almost had a heart attack. Then my buddy proudly proclaimed "I'm not vegan for any moral or ethical reasons" and she got all excited and gave him a high five.

Vegetarians have no right to be militant. They're simply half-assed reactionists. Vegans on the other hand...
I have a bunch of militant vegan friends, they are the one's who got me to stop eating meat

Are you ****ing serious? You are the worse douchebag I know.
YOU MADE A TWELVE YEAR OLD CRY BY TELLING HIM TO BUY A PINK BIKE!

That's the thing though, he is thrice the ass I am...... Like no joke, I'm civil in public (except for those germans i scared out of a restaurant in tahoe)

Oh and seriously, I can understand that people wont eat Bio Industrial meat ( I even feel sort of guilty eating it sometimes), but not even eating biological meat is just plain silly...

You do realise its totally natural for one species to kill and eat another species right?
If you care so much about nature and love it so much, why not act like youre part of it like the rest of us?

So, just on the off chance that you aren't just trolling, and really feel this way...

I spend my childhood in and out of the cardiologist's. I went veg at 14 - never had to go back. I am sitting beside of my mom in the hospital that just got to start a new heart med after going into a-fib Friday night.

Chronic sinus infections I had my entire life also went away when I went vegan. I'm allergic to egg and dairy. Been fine since I cut it.

Went into remission from Rheumatoid arthritis 6 months after I went vegan, too.

i think spontaneously throwing up after eating their vegan delights would be much more effective.

I will also attest that Snowflake is not an "in your face" vegan. Just quietly living her life as a great example of a healthy lifestyle. We could all do better with a more vegetarian or vegan diet. I'm trying and am discovering that I feel much better when on a vegetarian diet.

The final dish:

It was wheat gluten and pears, spiced with sage, vegan potato salad, and asparagus.

It was all delicious. I also had some of the beer can chicken, and it was alright.

I said that very few meat eaters are going to abandon meat for wheat gluten, but there is no reason why they have to eat as much meat. I would be happy with a little chicken and wheat gluten. I would eat less meat, which is a goal of the vegetarian movement.

Snowflake.

Offcourse, it goes without saying that its a bad id to eat meat when your body doesnt respond well to it, but most people dont have problems with eating meat.
The human body is suited to eat meat as well as fruits and plants and we have been eating them for some time now. ;)
Im not claiming that eating meat is healthy or more healthy then being a vegetarian, in fact it might even be the other way around because modern agriculture (sp? Im from Holland) fills in a gap in our diet but this hasnt allways been the case.
Proteins for example, would be a lot harder to come by, by living from food you find in a forrest if you dont eat meat. Thats why people have, in the older days, allways eaten meat as well as fruits and veggies.
Therefore living as a vegetarian these days is probably more healthy then when you eat a lot of meat, especially red meat.

That said, meat is fukking tasty, there arent many things that I enjoy more then a big bloody steak with a glass of red wine and I will never give up on things I like without a very VERY good reason.

A lot of people that are vegetarians these days are just friggin fashion victims claiming to give a crap about all life on the planet just to make a good impression on someone else.
Also, ofcourse theres also the people that really mean that stuff and even though I think theyre a bunch of whining hippies brainwashed by soceity, I fully respect there opinion as long as they dont bother me with it.

I wish you, and your mom all the best and in no way was I even slightly offended by any in your faceness in your previous post. :)
