Ive been fortunate enough to test out one of these since last October and they are legit. Its such a simple design and super easy to install. Can't wait to get a production one. They look super sexy as do all there headsets.

i didnt see it in the other photos, but in Vital's interview w/ DW, the Phoenix's front triangle is from the Revolt.
i cant believe i didnt notice that when i sat on it

The front triangle is pretty radically different from the revolt as far as its construction goes, but if you look closely at the Phoenix's headtube, there are marks for lining up these cups indented in the headtube itself.

I am sure Pivot will have a media release about it soon, but it looks like the Phoenix is shaping up to be a really nice bike for 2011.

is the one in the Vital article and the one he brought to the Open different than the production version?
construction might be different, but they do look damn close

i do like the Phoenix's design of adjusting HA via the headset itself

Can't see it being the same front triangle, maybe same types of tubes though.

Bach to the tpoic, is this a set of angled cups with a headset included, or a way to adjust the headangle on the bike without pulling the cups out?

I remember around 2 years ago, give or take, I saw a brand new shiny lathe in the back corner of the building and knew they'd be creating new things. I never asked after that, but I assume the 110 headset comes off that machine and now this bad boy.

Cane Creek posted some spy shots of a new headset called the AngleSet they’ve been working on. Details inside

Called the Cane Creek AngleSet

The all-new AngleSet threadless headset from Cane Creek makes it possible to change your game. You can now transform the head angle of your mountain bike with ease, as the low-stack-height AngleSet offers up to six offset angle adjustments. With steeper or slacker adjustments from 0.5 to 1.5… degrees, dialing in the perfect geometry to attack the trail is a breeze.

The patent-pending design of AngleSet is head-tube length independent and fits most popular head tube standards. A self-aligning feature between the bearings and the steerer tube ensures a perfect fit and makes fork installation a snap

Allows the head angle to be adjusted Slacker or Steeper. 6 offset angles: +/- 0.5, +/- 1.0, +/- 1.5 degrees.

Options:

AngleSet ZS49 – ZS49/30
(Fits 49mm [1.5” Traditional] ID head-tubes – 1-1/8” Straight Steerer)

AngleSet ZS44 – ZS49/30
(Fits tapered head-tubes – 44mm [1-1/8” Zero Stack] ID top, 49mm [1.5” Traditional] ID bottom – 1-1/8” Straight Steerer)

AngleSet ZS44 – ZS56/30
(Fits tapered head-tubes – 44mm [1-1/8” Zero Stack] ID top, 56mm [1.5” Zero Stack] ID bottom – 1-1/8” Straight Steerer)

See more pictures here or at CaneCreek’s Facebook page.

K9 and Worx Components have already created head tube angle reducing options, but they don’t quite offer the same adjustabilty or ease of fitment that the Cane Creek is promising. Feel free to read up on the K9 ARC -2º Headset Cups

This seems like a pretty dialed set up. From what I understand, only the top cup changes for the different angle options - the lower cup has an orbital-style interface that self-adjusts based on the top cup. So, bottom cup stays the same and you just swap out an insert in the top cup for different angles. The other nice thing (again, from my understanding) is that you can use a normal headset press, which is apparently not the case with some of the other angled cups.

Any ideas on cost? I hope its not as expensive as the k9 and Arc reducers... I would trust cane creek a lot more as well, just from the brands point of view

What's ironic about it is that it should help most any frame manufacturer sell more frames based on performance and less on "angles". Sell this headset as part of the frame kit and let the rider pick his half degree increments of self perfection.

Now people on Giant's won't wreck anymore.:thumb:

Ya, they will….cant put this angleset on a glory, tapered head tube.
Full 1.5 HT for the win.
This seems to suggest differently;

Looks like an amazing product, definitely interested in getting one.

agreed, already making my roommate getting one for his marin quake, and might get one for my session so I can adjust accordingly depending on where I'm riding (if it does indeed work with tapered, which it says it does)
