What other hobbies/money pits do you have other than biking?

Rules of this thread. Yes I am making rules :p

1. Post a picture
2. Keep the storytelling to a minimum.

My two other major hobbies used to be jeeps and boating. Jeep sold, boat motor is currently blowed up.

Last jeep
94yj 36's locked front and rear, blah blah blah built on the cheap.

Boat 2002 progression with Merc 300x outboard. 80 mph, lots of fun.

Was into the Jeep/wheeling thing for a couple years, but lack of time/funds/legal trails/people to go with sort of forced that to fizzle a bit. Used to spend a good amount on guitars/amps, but I've had the same guitar and amp for years now, since I no longer play shows/in bands. Bought a house, so all "extra" time/money goes into that now. Bikes are/will be my only main money pit.

Sorry, no pics.

Buying a sand rail soon, getting back into VWs.

And it's a damned good time to buy. Lots of credit-lovers are getting their balls stepped on right now.

Here's a picture Mr Rulebook.

I'm homeless
Shotguns, been shooting 12-16 rounds of skeet a week. I reload so it's not so bad, and the gun is really a 1 time investment.

I just bought a 96 cummins 4x4 truck, minus turbo, tranny, injectors, and injector pump. I have to figure out what I want to do with it. The motor already has head studs and 4000RPM Valve springs, upgraded lift pump and lines, As well as a full rack of gauges. I'm probably just going to do a stock charger, stock injector pump with a #5 fuel plate, some bigger injectors, and a stock NV4500 with a decent clutch and call it a dat

I also am picking up a jet ski, maybe today, with the money I got from selling my old DH frame. But I'm only dropping like 500$ so that's not so bad either.

You mean besides kids and a house?

Fishes/Corals... especially when I get to cut them up and glue them to rocks (corals, no fish).

1: Screw your rules.

B: Backpacking/Mountaineering. Having the right gear to be prepared in any situation in any season gets expensive.

Way too many. Most get neglected because of the others.

Biking is the most obvious. Specialized Stumpjumper & Trek Fuel are my Mtb's. Giant OCR3 is my roadie. I have sold all my DJ & DH bikes.

Hunting waterfowl - licenses, equipment, ammo, dog, and every Saturday morning from September to February.

Dog training - involved with the above. Besides the cost of the dog it takes a lot of time to train and keep his memory fresh on the old stuff he has learned. Training equipment can get very expensive. I have met people that I train with, thats cut down on cost.

Trap shooting - Like Montashu said, one time investment on the gun, ammo isn't cheap. This is the one hobby I wish I did more.

Pistol shooting - Got into shooting IDPA matches. I haven't done it for a while.

Hockey - Lots of equipment, session fees. I play Ice and Roller so I play year round.

Photography - This could be the most expensive of them all. Body, lenses, flashes, etc. There's always something else I need. I shoot weddings & senior pictures to fund this hobby.

Play guitar - Taylor & Seagull acoustics, Washburn strat & Epiphone Dot semi-hollow electrics.

I have a 2000 Jeep XJ, It has a 3" lift on 31's. I used to wheel it, but I haven't in years. Strangely I don't have any pictures of it around.

I'm expecting my first child in December. I'm seeing all of these getting cut more than they already have been since getting married & buying a house.

lost all other pics of it when my 500gb HDD went kaput

big engine. bad mileage. loud and fast. and the best part is it pisses my neighbors off
I wouldn't mind the small motor version for my next bag project. I don't want to go full sized, but I also don't want a bad 80's mini truck, either.

the 4.7L is nice, but lacked the grunt and noise the 5.2L or 5.9L has.

i was going to c-notch and bag my truck if i was going to keep it any longer

Cars are WAY bigger money pits than bikes. I have VW that has eaten more in the last 6 months than my biking has in the last 6 years.

However, It raised an interesting thought the other day. Got new wheels for the VW 17" x 8. The 4 of the wheels were almost the same price as the wheels that I have on my XC bike... WTF is that about.

My '69 was C notched, but the next one will be a full step with bridge and I'll raise the bed floor. While part of me would love a 22re Toyota with all the engine mods I did on my 4x4, I'm not a fan of the whole mini scene. Classic trucks are different.

My two. I don't let them become money pits though now that I'm back into riding. I'd love to get a tune/wheels/coilovers on the vw but thats not going to happen for a long time.
