It's hard to tell in that picture, but it looks welded.

Am I the only one who thinks that paint looks awful?

Your not the only one, but I will still be buying one to replace my 09. Looks good spec and feature wise.

Ah ya, didn't even notice that. Good catch.

From what I understand, Fox shocks will be specced on all of them for now due to the yoke.
I've been told it's because Fox has a deal with Specialized to be the OEM supplier of shocks. Team can run RockShox but the production bike still has to come with an RC4.

The yoke has to be specially machined for each different shock eyelet So while an OE deal may be a large part of it, not stocking a million different yokes is also a reason. The team bikes have custom ones.

I understand what your saying but surely Speccy / RS would just tool up for a production run ?

Maybe these are still proto's ???

Why would you do a production run for multiple shocks though? You do a run for your OE, as Lee has pointed out.
What I meant was that if Speccy was going to run RS on their initial proddy bikes then those involved would just tool up for it, even at the proto stage - surely.

Right. They have prototype yokes. Look at Sam and Brendan's bikes. :) However, as lee pointed out, Fox is a HUGE oe dealer for specialized, so it makes sense they have RC4s.

There's a big difference between tooling up to make a couple protos and tooling up to make a production run.

looks pretty sleek compared tot he current bike. Pretty cool seeing Trek get back into the game and now Specialized.

Now we just need GT, whoops, FELT to get into the game.

google translate: "Demo 8 Centre of gravity lowered with refocusing of the masses towards the pedals, lean frame, same geometry except for a top-tube shortened by a few millimeters. 4 sizes with an Intoduction S Troy Brosnan! Bases and shorter stays (hydrofrmage) to clear the crossing legs while pedaling. Shock longer with a bit more progressive. All places where the mud could have been hidden or housing parts redesignated. New bottom bracket system based on Pressfit BB30 86mm width
The Demo 7 disappears and is replaced by the SX Trail, which gains in travel."

Sometimes existing standards don't allow you to achieve the next level of performance. We'd all still be running square taper bottom brackets if someone didn't bust the mold.

The shocks (Rock Shox or Fox) have stock eyelets - nothing special on the shock itself. Specialized will have Fox and Rock Shox bearing extensions available immediately, with more options down the road.

We believe the benefits of this design far outweigh the inconvenience of the need for different shock extensions. Though we understand that many people might want to run aftermarket shocks, which is why we intend to accommodate all the options for you.
