Hi,
anyone knows more about this bike?

It got my attention, it looks sick...but how is it going to ride?

It was presented for 2009, but we saw it only in the world cup races, they didnt sell it yet.

What about 2010, are they going to sell it? Do they have a delivering date for the public?

I'm tottally satisfied with my V10, it rides well, and its super fast (its the rider who lacks in skills not the bike:rofl:)...
...but i'm in love with this bike, so i'm trying to find some more info about it.

Did anyone ride it and can give a review?

I haven't ridden it so i cant give u any detail on that Im afraid

But it looks sooo good. Love the lines, i dont think any other bike has pulled off the flowing lines like the GT...

I did read it was silent.. but u can take from that what u want, i think that was a WC bike, so its had the best treatment

But i do think it will become an icon of downhill!! I think its futuristic looks and use of materials will change DH if they work and will be looked back on in the future..

I really hope it rides good!! lol

They presented it at a dealers-show here in Norway a few weeks ago. Looks good, will come in two models, one crazy expensive, the other one more sensible. Same geo that Mick Hannah has been riding this year, don't know any numbers except those presented on their web-site.

Looks really good, I think. Price in Norway is a bit over the top, even for the top-model, 13000$.... my guess is around 7000$ in the States.

WTFOMGBBQ 4000$ for a GT frame? Even though you'll probably be able to get it much cheaper as with older GT's it's still plain stupid.

Ok.There are 2 Fury's (Frame is the same, just different Components)

This one is here in Germany .Price: 4990 Euro's
The Components are a little bit cheaper, but it looks very stable. The Fork is finally-i'am not sure-a Race or Team.Rear is a RS Vivid 4.1

And the topend Fury (not in Germany avalliable ,and a Frameset?no way)
Boxxer WC,Vivid 5.1,Saint,Hubs are DT'Hügi

The Retail Price (in Switzeland) is "around" 6500 Euro's,but it looks sooo sexy!!

Looks great. I'm glad carbon still has a place in DH, and GT generally does it right...I think... Not sure it's the best option out there, but I'm glad they're forging on. Eventually that could evolve into a very superior option...eventually.

I'll certainly be selling everything I own to buy one when they came out, assuming it rides anything like my old DHi.

Spoke with some sponsored riders at the 7springs GES and they loved their's as well. But then again, they're sponsored.

Bottom line is I've not heard a single bad word about this bike from anyone, and it's been out there over a year now, so that's pretty positive.

this is one of the said "sponsored riders" from seven springs last week. and yes i love it. i just like to look at it really. cuase it is so effing sexy.

but on a serious note, over the winter when i found out this is what i was riding, i was not really into it. i had a lot of doubts going to a carbon frame and going from a linkage to a single pivot. but after i got it dialed in, i couldnt be happier. i literally dont ever think about the bike, i just focus on riding. i have honestly never weighed it, but it does not seem any heavier/lighter then any other bike out there. all depends on your build too. main selling point is its strength. its very rigid, no flex at all. so it handle well in tight berms and feels like its on a rail on wide open turns. and if you dont want to shell out 6+ grand, look for mine at the end of the season as i will be taking good care of it now, and looking for a new one next season. i will def ride one of these again next year.

It's expensive with no weight reduction over their old aluminum frame (kind of heavy compared to other DH frames too). They overbuilt it to ease people's carbon fears so don't be surprised if it loses some weight (carbon layers) next year while still retaining sufficient strength. Some people really like the I-Drive suspension but I'm not one of them. I feel the typical single pivot braking characteristic and I swear I can feel the BB move in relation to the handlebar. I'd take the new V10 Carbon over it (or a current V10, which I'm still loving after 2.5 years). It is REALLY strong and stiff, pretty, and the elevated swingarm should be quiet.

Edit: My evaluation of I-Drive is from riding their XC & AM bikes. Never been on a DHI. Weight, strength, and stiffness info is taken from GT press releases when the frame was introduced.

I haven't stripped it down to the frame, but as a complete bike it is pretty competitive considering the build - full Saint, 2-ply DH tires, no ti, and nothing remotely suspect strength-wise. Definitely lighter than any other DH bike I have owned. I'll post up some thoughts when I have a little more time.

That thing looks like a freaking spaceship!

Unfortunately now that the carbon V10 is out I doubt many people will be willing to pay that kind of money for it.

Why didn't they release this last season so that they could be the only carbon DH frame on the market? Poor move GT, but that is what you are known for huh?

Isn't the GT available now? The SC isn't. So it is the only carbon DH frame available on the market right now, right?

My point is that you are paying a premium for the carbon with no substantive advantages. Unless that is, you were breaking and flexing the aluminum frames. I can't remember the quoted frame weight but it was "average".

And my point was simply that it isn't all that heavy - as you stated very clearly. It's expensive, no doubt, but there are plenty of other expensive frames out there. As for substantive advantages, name a frame that has them. It's extremely stiff, super quiet, pedals great, is pretty easy to maintain, and has a predictable, stable feel. All good qualities that aren't unique to this frame, but on par with pretty much anything else out there.

I was blown away with pedal efficiency of my GT Force, so I think the Fury is a beast when puting the power down out of corners. I never felt BB move and I never felt brakejack.
Next year the spec A Fury colors: yellow, blue and green...same as Hannahs bike. Hands down one of best looking bikes on WC circuit (their Fox gear is not so nice) ;)

I had an old GT DHI. I liked it a lot. It was super smooth and had great small bump sensitivity. I just didn't like the rotating I-Drive assembly. I also owned one of their All Mountain bikes until late last season. I loved that bike. It was so smooth over the rocky trails. It pedaled well, and I never felt any pedal feed back when braking. I'm riding an 06 coilair now. Talk about brake jack (or whatever you techy's want to call it).

I'm pretty sure that GT will have two Fury models this year, one that is $$$$ and one that isn't so expensive, more of a budget price point. Also, you guys are really going to like their Ruckus line this year. Actually, the entire GT line looks awesome. Wait a few more months until interbike.

They already have 2 models - 1 for some crazy price and one for 5k$ which is knda cheap considering the frame only went for 4k$.

As for the ruckus line - the protos look nice, but im yet to be convinced by a FR GT.

Damn! Marked down from $4500! You could sell off the parts and end up paying sub $2000 for the frame. Pretty early in the season for firesales. Wonder what GT and their dealers think of that.

Edit: Oh yeah, GT is part of Pacific now and probably doesn't give a s*** about an LBS, just moving product. Good for the rider though.

We're not too psyched. From what I've been hearing about the brand, it seems as though as they are trying to reposition themselves as a more prominent brand (ie getting involved in racing/free riding). It would be cool to see them come back to being the powerhouse they were in the early '90s. Plus, Seplavy is there now so...we know good things will happen.

Up until recently, GT belonged in places like Performance.

But last year and this year? They're making a strong come-back.

I hope to see Mick take more podiums this year on his Fury.

i demo rode a fury at this years us open only had 2 runs on it
bike felt fast and pedalled very good
i ride a sunday and also have a yakuza so i go from single pivot to dw link often and the fury felt like it didnt track as good as the sunday but it felt great pedaling thru rocky sections
it also feels very strong and its extremely quiet which was nice
