Who's rockin' the Troy Lee Designs knee/shin pads? What do you think of them? Would you buy them again? What do you like about them the most? The least?

Im trying to decide between the Lopes and the Race Face Zero knee/shin.

Post pics if you have any of you wearing them (trying to judge length).

Had/Have a pair. dont wear them much. They started to unstitch on the first ride with one of the knee socks as well as one of the retainer strap buckles blowing out completely by the third ride. I have since gone with just knee pads as I have learned to suture myself up fairly effectively for the rare occasion the pedal actually does damage to the shin area. But as far as fit goes they are comfortable and stay in place pretty dern well.

I have been using mine since December of 2009. I really like them. Being able to take off the pads without taking off your shoes is killer. I haven't had any slipping issues or quality issues with mine.

The L, XL, and XXL use the same padding but different liners. I am running the XXL. and I am 6'1.

Everyone who's got the Lopes that I know brag on theirs. I've got the TLD Combat's and they're the same pad setup, but with the Combat's, you don't have to remember to put them on before your shoes. May be forced to go to the Lopes when the Combat's die (4 seasons now)....because I'm a white pads whore.

Cool, I am glad to hear that everybody has had a better experience with these. I like the idea because I can pedal up in the knee sock things and then velcro on the shin guards themselves.

I actually didnt really care for mine, but i think i got them a size to big. I had to pull them up a little after every run, and one knee sock was bigger than the other, which is weird. I have recently switched to 661 Kyle Straits and will probably never wear anything else. The Troy Lee's did look pretty sick though!

The neoprene stretches out and starts slipping off your knee, the stitching starts coming apart rapidly and the calf strap was WAY too long. These pads have totally sucked for me, after three months I gave up on them.

Try the THE Storm armor, they don't slip off or fall apart.

My experiences with the Lopes pads was pretty much the exact same. Not a fan. I just went back to regular knee pads and figured I'd take my chances with my shins.

I had the same experience. Used the Lopes pads for 5-6 rides, wasn't very satisfied with the fit or the quality. I'm using the fox Launch Pro's now, so far so good

I've been on lopes pads since just before they were being sold. I love them. Make sure you get the right rize, if the neoprene is too loose they will suck (as mentioned). You can also toss them in the washer/dryer to shrink them up. I wash them after every ride so they stay pretty good in that regard.

The older ones had some stitching/production issues. They seem to have been fixed within the last 6 months or so? My 2 newest pairs have been really good.

Yep, get the right fit, and wash them every week and they'll be fine. I am 6'3" and thought they could offer a longer shin pad. Protected well, stayed up, super comfy. But did fall apart after a season and a quarter or so.

2 seasons ago...

I bought mine a few years ago through my TLD rep before they were even in the catalog. Maybe that's why I had issues with the stitching.

The older ones had definite stitch problems in both the plastic and the gasket. They fixed up the production problems fairly quickly though. Feedback was the same from everyone on that issue!

I rate them a firm rubbish, both me and a mate got some loooong after the stitching was "fixed"

Wasn't fixed at all.
