Even though Ive been a lucky one and have not sustained any injuries this season, many people at Diablo have had their shoulders messed up. Is this the new trend for 2010? Who has had to put down their dh/fr bike for the season already and why?

Shoulders are a pretty common injury for DH/FR. I had surgery on my right shoulder back in April. Dislocated my right about 3 times, sublaxed it 3-4 other times, torn ligaments, sprained tendons, hill-sachs lesions, chipped bones, etc. I've sublaxed my left about 4-5 times too, not nearly in as bad of shape, but will probably need need surgery in a few years at this rate. Rode some really mellow stuff for the first time yesterday and today. Feels great. Had a bone spurred removed from my right toe in Janurary. That was a quick recovery though. GOOOOO surgery!

shattered right wrist, grade 2.5 seperation left AC. (and a Husqvarna to the back of the left knee)

broke the radius and the ulna, into about 6 pieces total, 1 plate, 9 screws and 17 stitches later it's back in one piece.

six weeks in now and getting into the PT, but that **** hurts. Dirt bikes after a day of practice for the first DH race of the season are maybe not the best idea. Also not reccomended: 45mph high-sides directly into steep embankments

Broke my left humerus bone around 6 weeks ago at the US Open. I'm pretty lucky that it was a midshaft break and aside from some bad bruising and a little fat/skin seperation from the muscle around my hip I made out OK and was pretty lucky. No idea when I'll be back on the bike, but I'm really hoping I wont need surgery since it's pretty invasive.

BTW, having your arm hinge around at a point other than your elbow or shoulder is a really odd sensation.

Broke my scapphoid in a pretty bad way on march 20 @ the first race of the season. Tore ligaments, broken and dislocated carpel bones. I've had three surgeries on it. 4 pins. 1 screw. bone stimulator. 2 ct scans. 1 MRI. still doing PT. "should be" healed by the end of the month :/

no injuries here, but my roommate broke his hand about 2 months ago riding DH, got pins in his hand and a cast, got out of the cast about a week ago and had the pins removed, and has another ~2 months of rebuilding ligaments and strength before he'll be good to ride.

And my other riding buddy broke his shoulder 2 weeks ago.

At Diablo today, a guy overshot the 3rd table on lower dominion. Collarbone, arm, shoulder, hip, leg, and a collapsed lung. I felt so bad for him but he managed to maintain his humor throughout the ordeal. When you get out of the hospital, hope you have a quick recovery man.
