i don't really do big drops, but i'm also not the smoothest rider.

i have some XTR M970s sitting around, that i'd like to use on my TrailKing. are they too brittle for this kind of riding?

i know Profiles are the bee's knees, should i just sell my XTRs and buy some Profiles...?

I'm needing new cranks as my old profiles are OLD and bent. I'm gonna go with new Profiles or Saint cranks.

I would happily use any shimano hollowtech II crankset on my jump bike, let alone XTRs. has anyone ever seen them catastrophically fail? they'll be lighter, stiffer and I'd bet if someone can dig up numbers every bit as strong.

i've been reading up on my XTRs and apparently they're quite common on pro DH/freeride bikes. maybe i will use them after all. it just sucks that i can't go any smaller than 31T.
