I've rode the minilink and the sr6. The sr6 is the better bike imo. 24" wheel are crap off road. Not a fan of doc or Brooklyn, just good bikes whoever makes them!Hmmm, I have to admit that I actually do not like the sr6. I like the older BMWs much more.

I disagree. 24" tires make less of a difference than the internet encourages you to think. This is after swapping between both on the same bike on the same terrain. Yes, 26s roll better, no, 24s don't make a world shattering difference.
W00dy rides his with 24 rr and 26 fr and loves it all day long. I don't think he can tell the difference anymore. I was impressed with the nimbleness the bike gained back after blowing out my 26 for the millionth time and swapping back to 24s. the BB is lower, cornering was better, and performance didn't suffer the way I expected it to.

as i have said, i have ridden 24 and 26. in my opinion not swayed by internet encouragement! 24s are much slower through rocks and roots (and anything else that isn't smooth) than 26

But you're running much fatter 24" tyres, reducing the difference in diameter. 26 are much more eficient and fast, 24 are more fun and chuckable. 24 also have a smaller different shaped contact patch, and brake cornering traction easier.
True. I'm not trying to say we should switch back to 24s or that they should be used for racing, but rather that the difference is overrated.
I have to admit that I was tempted by the FQ Mini Link as I like the old BMWs (BigLink, RL, FQ, HM and so)...not much for the new sr6 and the current design. However, I think people have a point with 24" being a negative issue.....atleast there is a very limited choice of tyres compared to 26".
24 for is for fun, pure and simple. The bike is heaps more playful and easy to throw around(BMX like), but break traction easier, doesn't hold a line as well, and will hook up more on sharp edges,or roll slower if you run balloons on it so it doesn't hook up. and 24 on the rear only is just a joke.

my buddy has the Hammerschmidt on his SR6 and it rides like a dream.

The SR-6 is a sweet bike. It pedals great, rides rock gardens like a dh bike and flickable like a dirt jumper. Cant wait for another crack at the Mega-Avalanche next year on it. Hammer is the key to making this bike the perfect mega bike. Long live Brooklyn Machine Works!

my buddy has a sr8 and sr6.
his setup is completely opposite of how i have my bikes so it was hard to do a good comparison. the TT is short on the bike which i did not like.
the bike did suck up everything i threw at it even with a super soft setup.
Just wanted to let all the BMW junkies on the East coast know a big group of machines from a private collection will be on display this April.

FTW and I could build you an '97 Metalhead replica for ~$1850 if you really wanted one. We could even put useable brake mounts on it!
If you want a Darkside replica it'd be even cheaper($1200). I actually have updated OG Darkside tube sets in stock! If you actually want to ride the Darkside I'd reccomend a new one. The reason you can't find any of the old ones is that they are all broken!
