I read on the Canadian customs web site before going to Whistler a year or two ago. It pretty much left it up to the discretion of the guard whether or not he/she let you in. If he/she didn't like your hair or the way you looked at them, they could deny you entry.:disgust1:

Guard....."Park over there sir!!!!":disgust1: :disgust1: :disgust1:

Yeah, I got busted by the customs office in Point Roberts last weekend trying to under value my double barrel. Can't complain. It was my own fault and I was breaking the law. But once they got me for that, they went to town trying to get me for other stuff.

"Are you SURE you don't have drugs in the car? It smels like drugs."
"Er, it smells more like sweaty body armour to me."
"So no drugs?"
"No"
"Do you use drugs?"
"No"
"So if I search this car again, I wont find any drugs?"
"No"
"If I get the dog unit, they wont find any drugs?"
"No. Can I just pay my fine please?"
"Is the vehicle insured?"
"Oh, for heaven's sake..."

Picture this.
First time to Canada, Honeymoon, truck with camper and NRA sticker........
New wife and I, standing in the middle of an empty parking lot in the rain at 2am. Meanwhile 3 guards, 2.5 hours later, they finished going thru EVERY nook and crany of the truck and camper.....

Good times!

from the link to the canadian government website "Those who have received TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS (including parking/speeding tickets, etc.) and other minor violations (i.e. littering, etc.) most likely will NOT be prohibited from entering Canada."

So I'm (hopefully) headed to Whistler in September, and about 5 years ago was popped for a DWAI. It's a lesser offense than a DWI/DUI but still, I don't want to take any chances. I've been doing heaps of searching to find info on what to do to take care of this, and so far almost every link to decent info is outdated. Then for some reason I pulled my head outta my arse and checked the Whistler website, finally some live links!

http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/getting_here/entering_canada/index.htm

Anyone with a criminal record (including a DWI charge) should contact the Canadian Embassy or nearest Consulate General before travel. For information on admissibility, applying for a Temporary Resident Permit, Approval of Rehabilitation, or Permission to Return to Canada visit the Washington Canadian Embassy - Visas & Immigration.
Here's the links I found useful:
Visas and Immigration
Approval of Rehabilitation
Temporary Resident Permit

We had the longest wait this year that Ive ever had. We sat in line for over 2 hours. It was worth it.

...back in 67' while on a bender in Vegas, me and Nick Nolte buried a stripper outside Barstow... sumbitch ratted me out to the parking attendant when he tried to park the caddy in our room. Total lightweight. Never could hold his ether.

Guess this means me an' the boys ain't gettin' in this year...

"From the time that you turn 18, everything is in the system,'' says Lucy Perillo, whose Canada Border Crossing Service in Winnipeg, Manitoba, helps Americans get into the country.
...wonder if them bastards have SCMODS...

Completely true and 100% legal. Who the hell says a country has to let in registered offenders?

Um...talk about the pot calling the kettle black. If I remember correctly, you got caught criminally speeding in Colorado on a motorcycle doing 100+mph* a while back. So per your logic, you shouldn't be able to be in the US.

*I really think it was much more than just 100mph, I feel like it was more like 150 or so if my memory serves me correct.

hahah. I find it hilarious that they'd not let anyone into Canada for weed-related offences... maybe they're afraid that letting more potheads in would drive up the prices for the locals.

For what its worth, the border difficulties go both ways. It's a crappy situation all around.

Do you think a "driving without insurance" ticket is going to stop me from getting in if I am not the driver?
