This setup is pretty much the best I've ever ridden.... feels really good in the air. Got a new stem, and finally got some light tires, and I like it a LOT. Dropped another pound or so to get me down around 26-27 lbs again.
I broke it already.
Bailed off on some dirt jumps, and the bike came straight down on the front wheel, and the frame buckled right where the tubing was butted. Too light of a tubeset was the culprit. 4.15 lb frames don't hold up to abuse too well.
I'm having another one built, but in the meantime, the Contraband has almost the same specs as what I had made. Identical, really, except for 1/2" shorter TT, 1 degree stepper head angle, and mid bb instead of spanish.
Oh, and the Contraband weighs 5.8 lbs! I probably won't be breaking it anytime soon.....
My next custom will be built with the same specs, only with a fork that is designed for 24" wheels. (shorter fork, taller bars) Pretty much a bmx cruiser with mtb geometry and disc brakes.
I rode a contraband at a skatepark. It was dope. It felt stable like a 26, but I felt like I could shred it really hard. It did not have that awkward 24 feel.
NS District bars. Super nice, very comfy. Hard to find now.
I don't think the MK2s come in 24" sizes. The Rhythm Lites are super nice, very happy with them. Ran them on my 26" bike too.

Yeah, my xc frame is 4.1# and I would never hit real jumps with that Only butted down tube I would use would be a .9/.6/.9 . What your doing is what I have been thinking about building, 135mm hub on my cruiser. Moving the chainline out helps a lot with tire / chainring clearance with short chainstays.
specialized Rhythm lites. I liked them too actually, awesome for dirt. But I had them slip out quite a bit at the park, so I was a bit worried about them. What pressure do you run them at?
Rhythm Lites.... I run them at 50-60 lbs. They seem fine for me at the park, but I'm used to running Krads.
Took the bike to the shop today, it weighs 26.5 lbs. now. It was 29.3 when I did the frame swap!
