Ive been tubeless for almost 3 years now, i run mavic UST rims and normal tires (ust beads suck) Maybe its only me, but for a normal maxxis 3C tire (NOT UST) to work i have to use a decent *alot* of stans, im going through a ton of it and constantly having to order it-but it works damn good to seal the tire originally-just not on the trail. From what i can see, there is no "bulk" amount of stans, so i look at "slime" i see it everywhere as a name brand, but does it work? I can get 5 gallons of that and probably never run out, anybody try it?

I once gave slime a chance and it let me down. I removed a small shard of glass in the tire that Stan's would have fixed with just a little bit of weeping. The slime just oozed and oozed and oozed and never sealed. booooo

I've read about people making their own stans fluid with latex products from Michael's and such. It's worth investigating.

UST beads on Mavic rims snap together like Lego. I can mount Minions and Hutchinson DH tires with a bike pump. What tires are you using?

Minion DHF 3x 2.5, it mounts fine, but has a leak somewhere, only lasts 3 hours. My only complaint with stans is that i have to use alot of it, so around 5 tire and i need a new bottle, i usually dont need it with ust tires, but they suck

doesn't work. It doesn't seal as good as Stan.

My buddy makes his own "Stan's" from liquid latex he gets at the adult store. It's thicker than Stan's so he just cuts it with water.

He said he felt like a pervert buying it and tried to explain it was for his bike. The clerk gave him the yah right look. LOL.

Well tell him to stop being a b1tch about it, to walk in with a couple heads of lettuce, and mutter at the clerk "my girlfriend....weird things...you dont wanna know"

I tried the slime experiment as it was so much cheaper here, a third of the price of stan's, but after putting an incredible amount in and all around the bead and everything, it kept oozing out of the tire all over the place for two days. It was steadily losing air. So I wiped it out and put in a cup and a half of Stan's and it was good to go.

Hobby shops carry it too. Question is did they give him his frequent customer discount? :D

i buy the large bottles of slime from motocross shops...pretty cheap...and mix with stan's latex so it has a consistency of runny snot.

it coats the interior of the casing relatively uniformly, and goes months without drying up (my main complaint with pure stan's latex).

I mentioned it on the other thread- gring / buff off the moulding "ribs" off of the bead. They seal way better and you don't need much Stans as a result.
