Looks like a Golden Silk Spider AKA Banana Spider. There should be a little male around her somewhere. Harmless, but horrifying to get shrinkwrapped to your face. They kind of... scrabble on your cheek.

Still to this day there is no spider that bothers me more than this.

Where do you guys live?
Oh yeah really?
Remind me to never live there.
I'm fine with snakes and any insects, but I hate spiders.
If you don't think you have these spiders near where you live you are just in denial. As long as I am outside of brown recluse territory I don't give a **** about any of the other spiders I see.

You could tell me its a leprechaun or a pixie and to the day I die I'll be wigged out by those things. Seen a lot of them, so not a fan.

In OK we have brown recluse and black widows... you really don't want to get bitten by either one of those. Luckily they don't make webs on the trails. I run through some kind of fat orange spider's web about once-twice a week. They like to make webs between trees on opposing sides of a trail and then sit in the middle at about face level. Lil bastards they are! And you cant see them till you are are about 2 feet from them... and by then it's too late.

They are worse at night, but thankfully with the light you can see them several yards away. Of course at night I'm looking for another type of critter that bites... the copperheads like to cross the trails at night... I've run over 6-7 already this year... 2 in one night last week.

I literally go

if so, send her to this thread...i found a friendly critter last weekend that i know she'd love to meet.

I was in Delaware over last weekend and I saw one of these guys in person. It had to be at least 4in from tip to tip.

Not as big as the tarantulas we get out here but still slightly more impressive since you dont see these guys that big too often.
