Check out the video in the top left of the page too!

Anyone here ever actually ridden in proper snow?? don't get majorly deep snow in the south of the UK (where i am from) looks epic though..

Yes, Murphy, me and bunch of my friends were there this year.
One week later, we were at L2A where Mountain of Hell took place.

Mega is more enduro than DH. Best riders use ca. 160mm bikes with dropper seatposts.
Mountain of Hell is shorter, but is leads through some real stuff, like hiking track along Venosc track! :O

About the snow. This year there was much more of it, that usual. I've been told that the top, snowy part in AdH was 1km longer than last year! It made a difference of nearly 10min for the best rider from 2009 and 2010!
The best fun on snow is on early morning. Coz, ratrak in AdH (the snow "plow") goes up and donw at 2 pm every day, and then glacier closes. So, next morning, snow road is flat as highway :)
At L2A is was different story. The glacier is closed for bikes. It's opened just for the race. In fact, it has been so much snow, this year, that they had to cut the road for bikes! :O :D

Mountain of hell seemed a more technical track for me, though less pedally and phisicaly gruelling.
If I wanted to kill myself with dh Id go for one of the 24h dh races.

thanks for sharing the pics, look good!

how did you both find it? worth the trip?

Do you know roughly the costs for getting involved in it??

Our crew hasnt raced so its hard to say but I wish I did as it seems crazy. Only thing is I think to really have fun an enduro bike would be nice (hell quali track was very narrow and tight for a longer/slacker bike). If you are not into epic enduro trips Id go 1 day before the whole mega fest starts, start in some of the side comps (they have something like a dh event there too) and than jump to les 2 alpes - bit more trails for a bigger bike, though the track quality is uneven - some are great, some are really strange (or have the possibility to land flat if you boost the diable jumps )

i used a 160mm lapierre spicy with ccdb shock and coil lyrik Dhs up front....spot on :)

A lot of guys were just having fun on more DH orientated bikes. To win they would be too heavy against the top guys on lightweight bikes but they defintely would be fiun.
