Escape Artist - What size is that Armor? If it will fit a 150 lb 5 foot 10 person I'll take it off your hands if it is in good condition. I'll be driving a tan F-150 with me and two kids. Thanks, Kurt
Its an XL. I was just shy of 6' when I bought it, and it fit pretty well. You're welcome to try it on. I'll be the one with the camera driving the (lowers voice) Prius.

As an apology for the spam. SHredddddd......

Big thanks to the guys from Georgia for letting me tag along with them. And big thanks to the Dirty Bird trail builders the AM course was great. Wish the Seven Devils people would let us ride there more than just for races.

had a blast even with a busted knee! the bird is, by far, the best race in the southeast. everything from the course to the sponsors to the racers and families makes this event memorable.
Thanks again DBRP for another great race!

oh yeah...Maxxi loved it too! she was so tired from hanging with all of you that she fell asleep sitting up on the way home :thumb:

haha, well the conditions were just a little different than when I was riding it in the dry last week. :thumb:

Seems like you still put in a good time though

Look at that rock garden. No wonder so many of us crashed in there. You could hear the crowd yelling up at the start gate and I was so amped coming in that I didn't take my safe/practice line. I just went for it. Now looking at how greasy those rocks and roots were, its no wonder that I didn't make it. Probably wouldn't do it any different with the same conditions. Had fun thanks to the crowd. :thumb:

it was my 661 strait armor....never wearing soft armor for DH again. it works great for DS/DJ's/trail riding but this is the 2nd time i've been hurt THROUGH the pad. i didn't even know it was split open until i finished my run...just felt like a bruise. that laceration happened with the pad in place, it never slid down...just impacted so hard that it split my knee open. back to the Roach DH armor for me.

Yea, everytime I saw someone go by I was hoping they would make it through there with no trouble/crashes. One guy actually came within half a foot of me, he took the furthest right line (looking down the track) along the tape!

I was the one with the super loud cowbell and airhorn!

I managed to grab a pretty awesome shot of your dismount in the rock garden. :thumb:

I'll have that image plus a few others to post in the next day or so...

any word on the official results yet? I didn't make the podium of course and I was just curious about my time...no rush, though. Did anyone get shots of the intro/am classes? I know I saw a bunch of photogs out there all weekend long :D

Steven has the results on his computer, but his internet isn't working right now. Plus, he's out in the woods playing with a new chainsaw right now :) Priorities, you know

Well as everyone has already said, Gazzi 3.0 sized props to the Dirty Bird crew for putting one of the best DH events I have ever been to. It was quintessential grassroots DH racing at its best. Great crowd, excessive use of cowbells thanks to the DB crew (Will Ferrell woulda been proud), fun course layouts, supremely loud canon shots, World Cup-esque speed trap thanks to Tubby, awesome prizes, Trill Will on the mic, Schlitz beer = Superb atmosphere and overall vibe. Wish the weather would cooperate the whole weekend one of thesedays, but the AM track really firmed up by race time and was a freaking blast. Here are a few pics of some Pros (click to enlarge) -

THE MULE!!

The Tennessee Titan himself, Mr. Harley (post rock crushing crash)

Uh oh...

The Butch

The incredibly slow and clumsy Andy Devault :D

I think this is Dan Ennis

RACER GREG!!!

I think this is Will Obrien, and his flex noodle fork

More fork flexing

Ethan, after being jumped by camo man

Dogboy, with his sweet prizes

FEAR THIS!

Congrats to Matt Adams for making a successful comeback to the top of the podium after a series of sh!tty injuries, congrats to Team Grom - as Herdon's boys cleaned up, congrats to the top Jr. Expert who finished only a tenth of a second off the fastest overall time, congrats to Dogboy & Mike Calhoune for a solid run to the podium, and of course congrats to Racer Greg for a big win!

In summary, huge props to my Uncle Robert for supplying the 2010 Fox 40 to the top junior, altho I still think I got the best prize. I'm going to be so ripped for the next race.

Finally, we need speed trap results!!! :thumb:

Anyone happen to have pics/video of the last rider in Am class drifting the turn into the speed trap??

Just curious:thumb:
