It seems this happens every year. I know it is frowned upon for venders removing there product each night. I would suspect this is allways some what of an inside job by security or employees of the venue. Maybe things will change when the venue changes? Anybody know if the venue can be held responsible? I would bet there is some sort of limited liability for them. As a vendor do any of them carry inssurance for such?

Being to a few shows of other types in my days, the security at events like this just get fed up with all the comings and goings of people. If you're carrying something or moving stuff around, they probably get tired of checking... Just my thoughts.

I hope all the parties involved are found and get thrown of the Rampage cliffs handcuffed naked.

Hello everyone this is Pablo from Corsair and I would like to say hi and give some detail as to how and when it happened. The thefts or two of our prototype bikes happened overnight along with a Giant/fox and Specialized bikes. Kelly's Dominion rampage bike was stolen with his team-only green Hope brakes on it and the Toro 4x/DJ bike which is also green. I will ask Ian to load a pic of the Toro and Kelly's bike with brakes to show exactly what to look for. Thank you to everyone you wants these A!!holes caught and hung and they wont be hard to spot in the future. I felt bad for Kelly and Bryson Martin at Marzocchi for loosing out the most in this and I'm curiously waiting on the final outcome to who ever slimed there way in and out of Interbike. Pablo

Their fork they gave us for Kelly's surprise... it was a surprise because he had no idea he was getting this bike... so It's a very expensive fork from Marz and just bummed for them both. Mike Flaherty came up with the graphics a couple hours after we received the fork and everyone else chipped in just to try to match the joker colors

I saw some dude walking out of the expo area at the end of Friday with that green/purple fork strapped to his backpack, along with his buddy who had another special edition stanchioned 888?

Did they make multiple runs of the joker-colored forks? I doubt the thief make out like this, though.

Sorry to hear about these assholes Pablo.

Does this place filled with what must be bordering on millions of dollars in bikes not have bloody security cameras?

This is pretty common with tradeshows. While working a show in Chicago some union riggers told me how they hoisted a 38 foot speedboat into the rafters of the building. No one could find it and assumed it was gone. They hauled it out weeks later when there was no security. So yeah, inside jobs. Pretty much organized crime.

Thats pretty bold.... Hate theives for sure but the creativity is pretty slick and simple.... Bold and brazen is usually the least suspicious way to do it as well as unassuming by standbyers...

Be curious to see where this fork turns up this isnt an easy PC or paintjob type coverup....

You could do a signal only GPS that sends a intermittent signal out every 5 minutes or so just to keep the battery life up and make it so its out only and it could run on very minute batteries and have a long life. As long as they are checked periodically owners discrestion it would be pretty cool. Just call in or have a website by said provider and manufacturer that has the ID for that device and they can track it... You can look it up on the website and see where its at, get your buddies ID and see where hes riding that day as well as it could keep a log of where you were and intermittently as well as have a switch for constant so you can log on a topographical map youe whereabouts that would be a upsell version...

HMMMM theres potential...

i'm pretty sure marzocchi was selling all the colored edition forks on friday. they're not planning on producing them just yet so if they aren't, there's gonna be some people with some rad stuff. That toro had a 44 on it that was 1/8, and i guess they know everyone who has one so if it ever comes up, the guy is screwed

Damn, sorry to hear about this. The mountain biking community is comprised of mostly great people but a few bad seeds get into the bunch every now and then. Hope whoever did this is found.

on a side note, I've been thinking of some sort of bicycle LoJac system since my last bike was stolen at the beginning of the summer and never found. It's just finding a place to hide the unit that is a problem, but I think I have her figured out.

My aunt owns a trade show/gift show company and has problems with this all the time and at all of her venues (LA, Tennessee, Colorado). They almost never catch the people which is what really sucks. Hope these guys get caught though!!!

Headtube, seattube and BB all come to mind- i think it will be tricky to A. Make it fit and B. make it so it can't be destroyed/ turned off.

Haha, my idea is in one of those three. I don't really want to discuss many details at the moment, but I may scratch the project and share a bit.

Maybe it's making the decision to protect your stuff, or knowing the necessity of it (not always obvious), but once you have made that decision, there are many ways that you could protect the equipment or have surveillance on it. There are motion-sensitive cameras, camera feeds, cameras that take pics every few seconds, and so on. These items can be set up to remotely feed fairly easily these days. There is a part of a mountainous highway near here where they are working with lots of construction equipment, to "secure" it is a trailer that has motion cameras on every side with a radio antenna. I'm thinking that if you screw with the equipment the "machine" records you and calls the cops.
