Im thinking some dual disks on the front would be nice at that speed... or shimanos first proto of XT hydo brakes (twin rotor per caliper) if anyone remembers!

Head angle looks too lazy for a tandem.
Running two small sprockets for chain between riders is a good idea for ground clearnace. I always thought of keeping the lower chain high with an roller behind front chain ring and in front of rear, to get it up under the bottom tube(that I'd ahve higher), could even run it through condute, but probably no need, maybe if you lived somwhere real muddy.
Isn't rear cockpit too long, and chain stays? If I got one built it'd be short as possible.
BB height looks good, especially if both cranks are linked, and your stocker doesn't pay attention to the pedalling.
For a DH bike having the cranks sepperated would be cooler(can't recall what it's called, but it's expensive and heavier).
Cool bike, I'd love to have a go. You need a bronco riding girl friend though.
I think a steel hardtail's where it's at for tandem though, with a big fat tyre, and short stays. 6" Monsters, with 9" rotor.

HAHA! F*cking AWESOME! That looks like the craziest way to get to the bottom. Who decides on braking points?! Wait, nevermind, NO BRAKES! Go big or go home (or to a hospital :p)

I can only imagine getting passed on my regular bike by a couple of guys on a tandem bike. That's like the ultimate ego check.

It looks like serious fun, but it also looks like it will eat through brake pads, rear wheels and cranks. :D
From what I heard, on the uphill sections their speed is similar to "single" bikes, but on flat and down sections they are MUCH faster than a normal bike (same aerodynamics with twice the power). Is that true?

Note to self: convince a friend to rent one...

they're heaps fast, and so stable with the long whelbase. But you need a lighter person on the back with a brain.
and seperate pedaling systems so your stoker doesn't mash your foot into a rock.
Like driving a semi trailer, you need to look ata wider line than you do in a car. and it's a bit like riding drunk, as you're not quit as acurate as on a normal bike.
I miss my tandem.

Cool in theory, but for some reason when I think about 2 guys riding one of these I think of Ace and Gary from SNL.

I'm probably not the only person who knows every line through every corner on the kamikaze and leans in my chair while I watch that eh?
Best. Race. Ever.

That's true for road tandems at least, although I don't know what could possibly inspire you to want to ride one of those down a DH course

all that hardware, too bad they didn't take it seriously or maybe I'd have someone to race against

We saw you guys coming down the course and thought we should have tried to race the V-10. We need to work on the coordination and team-work aspect a little more first though.

Did you pay one or two entries?

We were each signed up in our regular classes full price, for insurance etc. Maybe next year they will treat it like xc were I think the entry is about 1.5 times a single. We really didn't have permission to race until we showed up and asked, what? is there a problem? Alright, maybe it was quite a bit more polite than that.
