Iirc Hannah got enough UCI points racing in Oz when he came back. I'm pretty sure he won the nationals and that alone gave him enough points?

How's the Oz series for UCI points? Summer over there, can't imagine it'll take him long to acquire the reqd points!
As far as I'm aware not many, maybe only the Aussie Nats and Oceanias? I'm pretty sure the national series doesn't count, and I don't know about the NZ Nats. Both Aussie Nats and Oceanias are always hotly contested, so Rennie would have to get roughly top 20 in both to get enough points (easier said than done!).

Also, No more Redbull?

All the best to the Big Man!:thumb:

According to an email I got the other day Rounds 2 (Tas) and 4 (Buller) of the series are listed as UCI cat 2.

Just got word that his debut race will be at Eildon , Vic state round #1 in 2 and a bit weeks time. (No UCI points there ! haha )

He's probably never coming back. He still enjoys riding - but the whole competitive scene is I reckon just too much work for him with too many risks and too few rewards.

That's what happened to me at some point. It took awhile to get over it, but you have to move on -right?

Yeah that's the reason I stopped winning World Cups too.

@socket: Do you piece of **** even know hard it is when you pour your life into something for 6+ years.

But then you realize that you have this huge debt in front of you. That you may keep training yourself to tears but that you have no support to proceed doing it. That you are broke, that you can take another chance but if you fail you will set yourself back for 5 years or more in life.

And even if you make it - that in 5-10 years you will stand just where you stand now.

Sometimes you need to let it go and walk away. Take on yourself the shame of being called a prick, loser and a quitter. But coming to terms with that is ****ing hard. Especially after you have been living the dream. You were going all Rocky against the odds.

I have never won a world cup, **** I never even qualified for one. But I did take my best shot. Have You?

Wow dude, if you could turn your angst into speed, I'm sure you would have made top 80!

I would like to see Rennie given the chance to come back racing world cups, if for nothing but product development and testing, because there are very few guys out there that can test a mountain bike pretty much to its limit like Nathan Rennie could. Plus he's awesome to watch racing.

Glad your sense of humor is intact.

And granted, I'm sure I'd feel different about it if I were in your position having been there, done that. Ya just came across a bit harsh is all.

Really? Mine was that i preferred lying in the mud for 8 hours on end with the cold and the midges. Way more fun. :D

That said, I would love to see the big man back. After travelling with him a bit and getting to know him better, he is one hell of a nice guy to be around, and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Nothing but good thoughts going out to him.

I hope Rennie does what's right for Rennie. Great guy, great rider/racer.

I'm sad to say StabprimoMonkee is right on regarding the WC scene for most, except the top 15-20 if that.

@Socket: now that a day has passed - I would like to apologize to you in turn. I could clearly written the same piece without calling you bad names - especially since you give a lot to this community.

Luckily the troll team was ready to diffuse the situation - I really lurve you guys :).

EDIT: Yeah... I guess this same feeling is that everybody but select few knows. Nico has been able to quit on his terms, Peaty, Rockwell, Chausson are some of the "lucky" minority.
