Who is doing what this season? Any of you heading over to Nats? I've been racing my a** off all month racing both SS and A to help finish off the fitness. Big target for me this year will be the Cross Crusade Series

probably do a couple local races for off-season training/fitness. last downhill race of the season is this weekend, 10/2-10/3. 1st cross race will be in the latter half of october. i'm riding my SS, but considering jumping to a geared frame this season and running 1x9 or 1x10. goal is to finish top 20 in cat3s

I now live about 1 minute from the Nats course. I'm excited for it to be back in Bend this year!

It's a drive, but well worth it! I bet we break 1500 racers next weekend.

Game day! First Cross Crusade is today! I expect 1500 competitors, lots of booths, and a ton of spectators. I'm always amazed because our cross races are significantly larger than any mountain bike national. It reminds me of going to Mammoth in the 90s. I'll be the 7th A called up to the line, so I should start front row with Trebon and Wicks. It's going to be a damn good day of racing!

Is Justin Finn still racing for you guys? I haven't seen him out this year. I know he is working on his PhD...
I haven't heard from Justin since the summer but if he's racing, he's racing for us. Massachusetts takes care of it's own.

In the USGP/NACT we've got Team ClifBar on our bikes this year, Ryan Knapp from BikeReg and a bunch of other NE based elite racers, a few of whom are racing with different stickers.

I'm assuming we'll have at least one top 10 series overall and top 15's from Ryan and Brady. Ryan picked up a UCI win or two last year and we're expecting great results from him the next two weekends. Troy has been riding in the top 7 at the big races but he's been fading as he's battling a super-bruised tail bone.

I'm trying to keep track on UCI points by manufacturer. I'm taking the top 3 riders per brand. At the moment we're running 5th. I'm hoping that we'll be up to 3rd by the end of the season. I'm gunning hard to take out Van Dessel. Jersey sucks.

I'm really hoping that the Sachs team reverses their bad luck so far this season. I want to put MA and specifically our county as high as possible in the running for manufacturers overall. The Joe's Garage/Bikereg.com team is also riding strongly this season so far.

I'm confident that Powers is going to slay hardcore again this season. Seeing one of your neighbors and training partners towards the top of the UCI rankings is totally badass!

I'm super stoked on how well our friends from Cannondale/Cyclocross world are doing this year. Jeremy is 2 pounds lighter than he's ever been and truly has the eye of the tiger at the moment. I'm a little worried about his weight though as he's really opening himself up to getting sick.

Troy Wells needs to send me a picture of his custom bikes. Freaking tall dude!

You should get a few more west coast guys on your bikes. When Justin raced he answered a lot of questions from people who owned a Spooky back in the day. For those of us around in 90s, the Spooky brand brings back memories. Our races in Oregon are insanely large and people love to buy unique bikes. That's part of the reason you see so many Vanillas, DeSalvos, Ira Ryans, Tonic, etc. Out of 1500 racers, Justin was the only one I ever saw on a Spooky

We're slowly working our way up the coast. NorCal is getting dense with our road bikes. I've been shipping two or 3 road frames a month to PDX, mostly to shop employees. We are just about the only small eastcoast company that sells any bikes in Oregon. You guys have plenty of local builders to support out that way.

Plus I don't know a single person out there. When people move to Portland from here we promptly excommunicate them!

my mom's a flight attendant so i've been flying up the last few weekends, so much fun. last weekend in rainier was brutal, 34c on the back didn't quite have enough clearance for that peanut butter. the birdsnest in my CS nearly rubbed the decals off my brand new tires, yikes. i'll be driving up this weekend with a friend for sherwood, can't wait to hate cyclocross again.

Yeah, I had a crap race at Rainier. I don't know about you, but I never felt like I could find a line in that crap. I wish it would have rained all day instead :) The course this weekend will be fun. That course is fast and twisty when it's dry. Personally...I would rather it pour down rain from now till then

i thought sherwood was a blast, i don't mind the dry, but i agree with more rain. PIR is supposed to be a bucknasty slop fest though, i'm stoked
Did you race it last year? PIR never disappoints. Since I started racing cross in '06 PIR has always been a muddy mess

PIR weather = great, course = teh suck. My result also sucked. They misplaced me because my number was covered in mud and refused to change my placing (not a big deal, I was way back anyway). That course is normally very technical and they removed all of the technical sections. I don't know what they were thinking. They have been trying to be crafty and have sections that only the As ride, which they shouldn't do. I've been fairly disappointed with how the CC have been operating this year.

yea i didnt understand why they would only have a section for the A's. i race B's and i would have been stoked on more off camber sh#t, seems like most people can't handle that. loved the mud though, it was awesome, and the vid rocked.

Is there no mtb racing this time of year? In Denmark they have a slush cup going all winter maybe because so few people have cross bikes.

Went to a small cross race here in Salem, had a stupid crash, and ended up with 5 staples in my knee :( It's a little stiff, so warm up is going to be key for me today (and staying upright). I asked the Dr 101 questions about staples vs stitches because he gave me the choice. In 10-14 days the pliers will be coming out to remove em!

Yeah, best I could manage was 6th. I was really hoping to contest for the win since I did so well there last year...I just didn't have it. Did you come out? It was a massive mud bog, tons of fun! :)

No, we stayed in Bend and mountain biked. Not sure if we'll make the trip over the pass again this winter.

I don't blame you. If nothing else, I'll see you at Nationals! I'm also thinking about contesting the mountain bike series next year...so I'll be in Bend during the Spring/Summer.
