Let's just hope he borrowed one of Blinky's old bikes.

If it happens, do you think they'll offer a new 303 w/ garlic BO scent? ;)

Hope to see Gwin stay with Yeti or at least an American made bike. I think Minnar to Trek would be great for Neko's development as a WC racer. Memmelar should be riding a factory Giant, wasn't he riding an old Glory this year?

and Needles, Leov and T-Mo wouldnt?
i'm pretty sure Leov is doing pretty well helping out Neko. both Gwin and Blinky have both said in interviews that Leov was helpful in their development and training. having Needles and Mosely AND Martin Whitely there also...no reason to say Neko needs more help...

Hopefully many of the U.S.pros will be living at the Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Lake Placid and train at Whiteface Mountain next summer. Then we should see more U.S. pros on the WC podiums. I am still looking into this but it would such a shame to not use the OTC to it's expected potential. Affordable room and board, full gym and pools and daily buses to the mountain.

From what I gather, training's over by the time the season starts. Then it's a game of maintaining fitness, focus and staying injury-free. Maybe not a bad idea for between races, though.

This would take a couple of years I figure for our athletes to really make a difference on the WC podiums. Since Whiteface is open 7 days a week training could be on weekdays. There's also a race every weekend within 3 to 5 hours of Lake Placid, so you have actual endurance and tech training here, then go to local races as many weekends as you want in the North East.

I am pretty sure I can make this happen for next year. I only wish DH was an Olympic sport and we would really get hooked up with coaches too. 1 year at time for now but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve.

call me a party pooper, but all the elevation, riding, and coaching in the world still won't keep the lads from relatively flat old, underfunded, chairlift-free UK from smoking our boys on clapped-out, 3 season old equipment.

there is pretty much no correlation between WC success and proximity to prime riding areas, bike parks, or coaching.

You old schoolers out there remember Gerwin Peters?

Will be curious to see if any of the bigger teams sign up that Shaun O'Connor....might be a real bargain.

I am curious on your insights, as to why this is. Not looking to start an argument here, just I have my own theories as to why the US (and CA) does not dominate the sport. The US for example does do well in moto, and did do alright at DH when there was some money in the sport.

WOW, while I generally don't favor your attitude, I at least thought you to be a knowledgeable person regarding sports. I am not suggesting that the nations that are beating us have these things and therefore are faster, but you honestly can't believe that strength training and a competitive team atmosphere wont make a difference.

I've trained at the OTC in CO Springs and Lake Placid. The resources available are invaluable and, If given the opportunity, any serious athlete would be insane to pass up the opportunity.

It is a good thing that US Skiing did not subscribe to your news letter.
