Hi,
I'm tired of having to constantly adjust my 3 piece cranks on my Faction.
So I'm thinking of replacing them with a 2-piece design, something like an Eclat tibia or Odyssey Twombolt.
My bike has has Spanish BB.
Can I simply take out the old cranks and slide these new ones in or do I have to also buy a new BB set as well.
Many thanks
Ian

If the spindle size is the same, you should be ok. If not, you'll need new bearings. You might need to re-arrange the spacers a little for the arms, but other than that you should be fine.
Twombolt is 22mm. Most bmx cranks are 19mm.

This type of bb, is really just bearings and spacers. If you have spacers, a new BB is never really necessary, just buy the bearings.

What cranks come stock on your Faction?

The big determining factor is the diameter of the spindle on your current crank. The Twombolts use a 22mm spindle, so if your current crank has a 22mm spindle as well, then you're good to go. If not, you'll have to buy a new BB.

However, I've always been a firm believer in keeping parts like that consistent, i.e. Odyssey BB w/ Odyssey cranks, because it comes out of the same factory (designed together) and will generally fit better. Just my 2 cents...

1st off, what cranks are you currently using? I have been running the same pair of Profile's for almost 7 years with no problems.

I don't know what cranks are fitted on the bike other than they are 3 piece cromo with pinch bolts. I measured the diameter of the spindle by measuring the hole width in the crank arm. If this is correct then the spindle is 22 mm.
I'm looking at 2 piece cranks so that in future I'd only ever have to fiddle with one bolt!

Don't rule out 3 piece cranks completely. If you get a 48 spline pair like Profiles, they press fit on the spindle so its a lot tighter than those with pinch bolts. If I were buying cranks right now I'd definitely pick up a set of Profile GDH's.

Also, I've never heard of a pinch bolt crankset with a 22mm spindle, that said I've been wrong once or twice before.
