 Unacceptable.

:p

LOL

I drank Molson Ice when I was in school. :hmm:

Right now: Maibock homebrew. Quite good.
I'll see your Molson Ice, and raise you a Colt 45 Ice. Or Genny Cream Ale when we wanted to be a bit more subtle... High brow was JW Dundee's Honeybrown.

Curbjumper - See if your SO likes smooth, sweeter dark beer. Like bocks, oatmeal stouts, milk stouts, baltic porters, etc. Most women I know really only like the darker beers, as they're not as bitter as the lighter offerings. I personally find it hilarious, since 10 years ago most women liked Coors Light.

Finished a 2L growler of Oaked Arrogant Bastard that my sister brought me from her trip to San Diego. Slept real good last night.

Damn, good call! I'm going to go to the store with her tonight and see if anything catches her eye. She love Newcastle and likes darker beer, but whenever I suggest something she shoots it down. Anything specific you could recommend? If I can tell her, "Hey, someone I know said *beer name* was tasty." she would be more open to trying it I think. Oh, and +rep for this comment, for sure.

Unfortunately, you can't rely on something to "catch her eye", since 99.9999% of marketing is towards men. I'd give you some suggestions, but I'm not sure how much is available in your area since the best stuff here is the good local breweries.

That means you'll just have to start buying things to see what she likes, and if she doesn't you get to drink it. Oh man, it's got to be hard to be you...

Ha! Life is actually quite tough at the moment but my gal eases some of the stress. She's into a football and biking so maybe something might catch her eye. I'm going to go to the store with her later and I'll report back with my findings. The good thing about living in FL is that we get a lot of beers than most states don't, this includes out-of-state microbrews. MY local Publix and Albertsons (surprisingly) have a GREAT selection.

Dude, if your chick likes New Castle, go to BevMo or it's equivalent and get a bottle of Baltika 9. Thank me later.

I say IPA. Will it be all grain or extract? If you come to seattle I have bottles you can have....
IPA it is. :D

In other Beer flavored news; My German friend (the one who flew up to Germany 2 years ago) is shipping a container of her belongings back from Germany to NZ and has a load of space left over...... Yep she's letting me fill it with BEER!!!!!!! :weee:

So I'm getting her to load it with several cases of Paulaner Salvador and then as much Rothaus Pil's, Mazen and Weissbeir as she can fit.
Man I fell in love with the Rothaus Pils when I was up at her place in the black forest. :cupidarrow::cheers:

No BevMo in BFE :( Hell, it's like 15-30 mins (depending on traffic) to drive 4 towns over to an ABC Liquor. We have Publix, Albertsons and Albertsons Liquor. I know you're thinking like HAB here:

but contrary to popular belief, the Albertsons Liquor and Publix beer selection is quite diverse. I'll snap a pic next time I'm in there.

The beer selection was infinite when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale. The Publix and Albertsons Liquor down there was awesome as well, but we could also go to Whole Foods, ABC, and a handful of specialty beer/wine stores (all within 5-10 minutes of home...)

I'm just being an ass, though I've not seen a good selection in an Albertson's around here.

I split a bottle with my buddy and that was *plenty*. Start out the night with it, otherwise some of the more unique traits might get lost. It's also...what...12%?
I had one last night. It's OK, not anything really incredible IMO. Defiantly interesting, but not really quite my cup of tea. It is 12%, so that's fun.

Pretty much what we said...

"Wow...you can really taste the ...uh...heh...wood...ahem...cough..."
Yeah. Though I really like Oaked Arrogant Bastard, and that tastes even more like chewing on a stick. I think the difference here is that it's a bit more alcohol forward (it's 12% for fvcks sake), and is really really heavy on the roasted malt, so it's got a bit of harsh bitterness at the end that makes it feel like it's biting back.

I think I need to pull another out to reassess.

Just went to the local cult beer bar and had a Yeastie boys punkadidle on the hand pump; then a Rouge Brutal bitter, and have brought home a takeaway of Rogue Dead guy.... But I'll leave that until tomorrow night. Just going to pour myself a small night cap of the Emerson's Grace Jones porter instead to have while I read in bed. :)

I was just down in Newport, Oregon (they have a brewpub, brewery, and distillery there) and I wished I wasn't unemployed so I could've brought back cases of the stuff. Their XS line and John John creations are ridiculously good.

Rouge "Dead Guy" :D
One of my absolute favorites. Not quite the best tasting but it just feels so right. :D I went to Beer of the World which is a little bar in Miami that has a 4 page menu of just beer from around the world. I wasn't seeing a price but I saw Dead Guy at 9% and Double Dead Guy at 17%. I was like "WTF? Double?" So I ordered one and when it came the bartender said I owed her over $25! I didn't realize "Double" meant that you get a flippin' 40oz'er of Dead Guy. Yeah, that beer lasted me a good chunk of the night, but it was damn good.

also, Rogue makes a Dead Guy whiskey out of the same 4 grains that are used to make Dead Guy Ale. I can't wait to try it...

Yep. That Dead Guy Whiskey is pretty good. They also make a single malt that's made with their own homegrown malt in the Tygh Valley. It's ridiculously good.
