WTF? He is doing it his way! It's taken way to many years to realize that all I really want to do is build trail, ride and hang with my family. All the other BS is not alot of fun but it is what I signed on for. Life is short, ride hard!

Just like Zink did a few days back, Josh pushed the level of what's possible (and what wasn't) on a mountain bike... I think a lot of riders forget that, or maybe weren't around back then and just jumped on the hate wagon. It's not like he doesn't know that people make fun. I love that fact that through the injuries, the hate, and being the punchline to a lot of jokes, there he is still riding hard and not giving a damn. That makes the guy more "mountain bike" to me than you'd ever guess just by watching an 8 year old VHS video.

Why are we hating on Bender.... Im a little curious.

Last time I checked the dude was a total stud, I dont care of he stays in a van as he travels like a mtb nomad thats pretty bad ass. If I didnt have kids and a domestic responsability Id rock the nomad style as well (my van would be 4x4 with some really cool $h!t though LOL)...

He stays in a van as he travels, hes all over riding some NASTY stuff. He digs at the rampage for others and assists them in design and build along side Spangler and a whole crew of volunteers and riders...

We bag on him but hes riding on a regular basis, if the weather changes he moves on to the next venue, he rides with the top guys all the time, he builds stuff for others and designs stuff and gets to ride it.
Its not an easy life for sure but I guarantee he put more work into a spectacle that all of us watched this weekend to make it go smoother, safer and Im sure it helped alot of guys out him being there.

So thanks bender for your involvement in this sport, its progression and no matter how it goes down your name is pretty stapled in freeride and big mountain... :thumb:

Josh Bender is one of the most friendly and professional riders I've had the pleasure of going riding with, spent a day sessioning Whistler Bike Park with him and some of the Kona Clump guys, and also attending the party where the photo above was taken with the nice lady from Marzocchi (bomber girl)

genuinely thrilled to be out riding his bike, some serious skills (he was a DH racer before pushing the freeride scene), very friendly to everyone we met on the trails in Whistler

one of my favourite photos taken up on Garbanzo, I'm at the front and Josh is second, with Clump rider Joe Schwartz bringing up the rear behind my buddy rob

Agreed, stfu hating on bender. So he hucked like mad and didn't always make it - so what. Go do something productive.

Quoted for the truth. The guy was determined to extend the limits of freeride, back in the days when it almost didn't have that name (or any other). And he's still out there, doing it. He builds, rides, shares his knowledge and his efforts. A friend of mine met him at Whistler this year.

I pay respect to JB, and to the fact that he is still rippin' n' shreddin'.

It's great to see him back on a Canfield which was also one of his sponsor in the past.

If Bender successfully hits a bigger drop than the one he attempted before I will have serious respect.
